The wordless 1 by 1 intro of the Fellowship coming through the pass is probably the greatest gift to fans of any book series of all time.

Still bummed that the Merry / Theoden scene didn't make the theatrical cut.

As long as we're on the subject of blockbusters, here's the original breaking of the Internet.

After going to see The Water Boy with my dad and brother, with the theater promising to show the trailer twice, the next day I went to a friend's office - he worked for a fledgling Colelge Sports website, and we sat there for mabe 2-1/2 hours downloading the quicktime version of the TPM teaser and watching it frame by frame at this tiny resolution. Still super exciting though.

The next day , I recorded Entertainment Tonight so I could watch it as much as I wanted to. That tape got so warped that Mary Hart was eventually slurring her words like a punch-drunk boxer at the opening.

I'd never even heard of LOTR at the time, but I still distinctly remember seeing that trailer for the first time because of how interesting it was to see three movies announced at one time. I remember thinking it felt like a huge event movie, and was immediately intrigued.

I wonder what movie I was watching when that trailer came on in the theater. Maybe Gladiator.

I have never seen this movie, but now inwant to. I enjoyed that announcement, maybe because it was so low key.

That Jerry Maguire one is great, perfectly captures the heart of the movie

Watched this one at a buddy's house in COllege Station during my last semester at A&M. The nerds like me in the room barely watched the second half of the game after seeing it.





And perhaps the best trailer of all time if you're a SW Nerd - regardless of the implication of the special editions, this is a perfectly crafted trailer. Saw it in front of Space Jam.

From the innocent days of wacky romantic comedies. Doris Day was gorgeous.

This one's all about the sound. Just like this...

I remember catching up on Grisham books leading up to The Firm in high school and seeing this movie at midnight opening.

Probably the best "announcement" trailer...

Saw this one after the credits of a second re-release of Star Wars in the summer of 1979



I only have vague memories of actually seeing this one in a theater


And in front of Top Gun in the summer of 1986, this was my first look at a sequel I never thought we'd get

It's always been weird that they had Harrison Ford do that trailer voiceover for ESB, kind of a cool relic that way though.
