I'm guessing they couldn't get Hunt to come back, so they just said screw it and made the movie its own new thing.
That's somehow an even worse way to go. Never understood the whole "standalone sequel" thing.

Yeah, it's not ideal. I still haven't had a chance to watch the full trailer, just the spot that aired during the game. But it does look like a redo of the basic plot (with the Dorothy tech).
