Is Ed Helms just nerdy Jack Black?

Jack Black is actually funny and cool.
Jack Black is funny and I will watch a movie with him in it simply because it's Jack Black. I avoid Ed Helms in anything, and like movies/shows he's in despite him being in them.

If anyone is a nerdy Jack Black, it's Rick Moranis.
A lot of women still find Bateman attractive. I think it is a Gen X thing that goes back to the 80's/90's. The same was never true about Helms.Brian Earl Spilner said:

Yeah... his presence in the Office really affects my opinion of the show. I still like it a lot, but hate every time he's on screen.
Well ed helms and jack black have peaked and not funny anymore, so yes.
Ed helms is the Z-grade replacement Steve Carell. First on the daily show, then on the office. At any point in the last 35 years, jack black could have released an album and become a huge music star. Banjo Andy bernard isn't even in the same solar system.

There are lots of Jack Black albums, and Ed Helms was awesome in The Hangover.
That being said, "Hit me baby one more time" is pretty epic.

Andy Bernard's character rotted over time like a pumpkin sitting in the sun. I blame the writers though. Can't really blame Helms for bad writing.
Early season AB was actually quite hilarious to me. When they were all in Stamford i actually loved him.

Ed Helms is supposed to be an unlikable "straight man" so if you don't like him he's doing his job right. Jack Black is the total opposite of that.
My dislike for Ed Helms has nothing to do with how Andy Bernard is written. I don't like him in anything. I just don't like the guy at all.TresPuertas said:

I think the way they have very similar mannerisms in their comedy. Obviously Ed helms always plays the straight man and Jack Black plays the funny guy.
