I went into each installment of the Lord of the Rings movies with high hopes and high expectations and they were exceeded in every way. As a book lover I had always hoped for a great adaptation. It exceeded my hopes.

Death of Stalin. Was intrigued by Steve Buscemi and as a history buff, thought I'd give it a chance on a flight. I had a hard time stiffling my laughter so as not to disturb my neighbors.

I went to it solely for the purpose of extending the evening with a girl I was dating back then. That first shot of Jack Sparrow in the tiny boat is so great, and it only gets better.Brian Earl Spilner said:The Porkchop Express said:

Perfect answer. Nobody expected a movie based on a theme park ride to be any good.
Good call.Quote:
"Godzilla Minus One" - An amazing take unlike any other on a classic movie monster. This one is great.
Yep. That's a good one. And it reminds me of another kids movie in the same category:jokershady said:
Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish
Went in to it just cause I figured it'd entertain the kids….did not expect a funny and mature story about the value of life and appreciating what you have…living life to the fullest knowing full well death is an inevitable fate that can't be avoided….
Funny you mentioned that. My wife watched it with her dad when she was like 13. Never understood it, said she stepped out to the bathroom like 3 times just to kill her boredom, and couldn't remember anything that it was about.jenn96 said:
The Matrix. Saw it the first weekend it was out, no hype and knew nothing about it. I was on a date and at dinner we bought a paper so we could pick a movie and that one was the best time and theater combo. We both walked out of the theater and talked about the movie for the next 3 hours. Visually it changed everything for action movies after that - it was mind blowing to experience it for the first time.
I enjoyed that when it came out in, what, 1985? Watched it again recently with the wife, who had never seen it, and wondered what I found so enjoyable about it.Philo B 93 said:
