Ok, this thread is dedicated to a random movie recommendation that you offer to people. Doesn't have to be entirely obscure (hard to do for this board anyway), but it shouldn't be something very obvious either. No blockbusters, Oscar winners, etc.

If you haven't seen it, check out the Trip. Interesting for me because of the food tour, the impressions/movie aspects, and how serious it turns at times. Deeper than I expected. Also, I think it's pretty cool that they morphed a series into an actual movie release.

Doomsday (2008). Directed by Neil Marshall, who is also responsible for The Descent, Centurion, and the Blackwater and Watchers of the Wall episodes of Game of Thrones.

The trailers don't do it justice. It's like someone decided to smash 28 Days Later, Mad Max, and Excalibur into a single movie, resulting in and hour and 45 minutes of fun, campy violence.

I always recommend The Spanish Prisoner

More well known, but underrated- Spike Lee's Inside Man.

Looks intriguing- I'm adding it to my list. Never heard of it before.

Once is in my top 5 favorite movies and most people haven't seen it even though they may be vaguely familiar with some of the music.

A warning that it's one of those you really have to pay attention to. There are a lot of twists and it can be pretty confusing on the first run, especially if you have distractions.

It's a multiple-watch movie. Watch it, go read up on it, and then watch it again. I've probably seen it four times and it's been better with every watch bc I've picked up on new things I missed every time.

There's also a really cool story about how they filmed the movie and what they told the actors beforehand. I'll try to find the article but watch the movie before you read it to avoid spoilers. That article alone makes the second viewing so much better.

If you like mind-**** movies…you'll love it.

A couple more I always recommend:

The Life of David Gale - Kevin Spacey, Laura Linney, Kate Winslet - Thriller with a great twist. One of my all time favs



Short Term 12 - Brie Larson, Remy Malek, John Gallagher - this one got me interested in indie films


The Place Beyond the Pines - Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Ray Liotta, Eva Mendes - Just a really good movie

I recommend Nate and Hayes. Pirate flick with Tommy Lee Jones from the 80's.
