As an unsupervised Gen-X who enjoyed watching all manner of horror movies unbeknownst to my parents, this was the one scene that truly terrified me and the only one I remember.

While I liked the movie, the only thing I actually remembered about Swordfish was Halle Berry's boobs.

Post a movie you remember from a single scene? Is there some hidden context privy to everyone else that went right over my head in your post topic?
I think the idea is that Raiders of the Lost Ark has about 115 minutes of cumulative content that could be reasonably considered "memorable". Do you literally not remember the other 114.5 minutes?
Think of it as most memorable scenes in otherwise forgettable movies.

As for Raiders, I remember the entire movie. I interpreted the OP as most memorable scene in a movie.

I think the smell test for me is if you were to say "Do you remember that scene in _____", but don't say what scene it is, you'd get the same answer from 95% of participants.
If you say Raiders or Alien, you'd get a million answers.
If you say Dr.Stranglelove, they'd respond "You mean the one with cowboy riding the nuclear bomb down to the earth?".
File this one under "memorable scene for all the wrong reasons" category.
Funny story about this one...
I was in high school when this came out. A friend of mine saw it and decided to pull a prank on me and my dad (who my buddy knew very well). He said it was an awesome who-done-it action movie and that my dad & I would both love and probably prefer to watch together.
MOST AWKWARD MOVIE-VIEWING EXPERIENCE EVER!!
But I have to tip my hat to my buddy for pulling off one hell of a prank that my dad & I still laugh about today.

As for Raiders, I remember the entire movie. I interpreted the OP as most memorable scene in a movie.
Movies that are forgettable except for one scene, or where a single scene is so much better than the rest of the movie that it outshines everything else in it.
Example - opening of Ghost Ship. Oft cited by horror fans as one of the best movie openings ever. Completely disregarded for the rest of its runtime.
