I really liked the early Mitch Rapp books. I also like the Jack Reacher series (just read the latest and the more recent ones have been a little meh). Itching for something more about DC, CIA spy kinda stuff than the Reacher books.

Looking for some recommendations. I'm talking beach reads, low mental energy kind of things.

Any recs?

I've tried a couple of Clancy books and they're not quite as simple as I'm looking for.

Try the series written by former Navy seal Jack Carr. His first book, "The Terminal List," was serialized on Amazon Prime video. Politics play a central role in the story arc.

The Jack Carr books are must reads every release. He is in the top echelon of that class.

I think this is the one I'm going with. Really appreciate the recommendations from everyone.

Probably going to read the first one but I also like audio books. How are those? I used to love the Reacher audio books until the narrator retired. Just can't get on board with the new guy.

I enjoy Jack Carr's Terminal List. The first three books of the series were really good. The latest have problems with brand placement/advertising that can completely knock you out of the story.

I prefer Mark Greaney's Gray Man. Super consistent.

Those two are easier to get into than Clancy.

I read Carr's first book then audio for the rest. If you have the time to sit and read, I recommend it. That said, the narrator for Carr is excellent and the book is perfect for audio.
