Nicholas Cage plays the antagonist (serial killer), and the FBI agent has at least interview scene.

Not the scariest. That distinction goes to the final act of Fire in the Sky. Rather, I made the grave mistake of referring to The Witch as a "horror" movie, for which I was then mocked relentlessly because… I still don't know. That said, the Black Phillip scene is, indeed, one of the creepiest things I've ever seen, which I rank higher than damn near any jump scare from your typical horror movie featuring some dumb monster or cliched little ghost girl or whatever.

what a great movie. had me sucked in from the get go.

Nic Cage was nails. It was really hard to tell it was Nic.

hollywood loves to hate christianity though. its humorous at this point.

I honestly was not all that impressed. It wasn't scary at all we didn't think. Couple of jump scares and a couple of creepy atmospheric moments but I'll expand on that below. I was pretty hyped for this and both me and my wife were pretty underwhelmed. Overall it wasn't a bad movie, I just honestly don't really get the hype at all. All the reviews I had read were saying it is the next silence of the lambs but honestly it was an interesting movie with a confusing and weird story with a bloody-ish ending. But it didn't stand out in any of those categories (scary, classic, bloody) for me at all.

Nic Cage was fun but I was expecting him to be a scary villain. He definitely wasn't that at least to us. He was a little creepy but mostly just really weird and unbelievable. Acting throughout the movie was pretty good though I thought.

Stylistically it was awesome and had good buildup of tension in the first two chapters, but that final act just did not land at all for me. It felt like they rushed through all the parts that should have been interesting like trying to crack the code and examining the other murders. I get that was part of it that she got it so quickly but I looked at my wife and just laughed and said "that's it?" After they revealed she cranked it. This movie just felt like a lot more style than substance to me.

I think Hollywood honestly just wanted a highly rated movie where they can say hail Satan a few times.

I definitely prefer Mandy and Colour Out of Space.

That was dumb as hell.

No pun intended.

But the idea that "Hollywood" is some monolith that is actively looking to worship Satan might be even dumber. Some of you need to get a grip.
