I'm a couple years late to this, but heard these guys for the first time today. Was a huge Beastie Boys fan and don't really keep up with new music, but this duo sound very Beastie Boys-esque, with a little Run The Jewels mixed in.

Apologies if they have been shared before

Joey Valence and Brae, both early 20's former Penn St students.

If 2 of the 3 members are still alive, I don't think "Reincarnated" is the correct nomenclature.

Meant more from the aspect of their career/new music/touring being dead

Most of us aren't pedantic and understood what you meant.

Beastie-esque? The two songs you posted might as well be a Beastie tribute band. Complete ripoff, down to the video style.
I mean it sounds great but I don't give them a lick of credit in the creativity department. As a tribute band they'd be fun.

While I get your sentiment, it's been 12 years since MCA died, 13 years since Hot Sauce Committee Pt 2 was released and 38 years since License to Ill.

I do think it's obvious they have tried to capture some of the same sentiment, but do see new-ish elements as well. And even if they completely sounded the same, the sound and skill is something I haven't felt/heard since A&M was in the Big 12. I'll take it, and have been jamming much of the day

Really only the one guy sounds exactly like Ad Rock

Weak. Sounds like two guys who listened to two Beasties songs and tried to copy them. No thanks.

I have a hard time liking bands that copy other bands. I have the same feeling about Greta Van Fleet. While they are talented, I just can't get into them.

NEWS FLASH - ALL bands copy other bands.

Absolutely nobody is 100% original they all learn from, borrow from, and are influenced by other bands.

They may incorporate multiple sounds or have a new element to an old sound but they all are based on previous stuff.

Even "the originals" borrowed heavily from others (not to mention early cover songs that all of them did to crank out material quickly):

Elvis - from black blues performers and white country performers the combined sound was "new"

LZ - from southern delta and chicago blues artists specifically Blind Willie Johnson, Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters as well as folk singers like Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell

The Beatles - Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins Cliff Richard, Buddy Holly and Harrison more later by Clapton and the Byrds

The Rolling tones - likewise influenced by a lot of Chicago blues artists and Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, The Crickets, Jimmy reed and even James Brown

I find the dismissal of new bands to be comical.

Greta Van Fleet may be heavily Zep influenced but also drew from Aerosmith, Cream, Bad Company, The Who and blues greats B.B. King, Albert King, and Freddie King. Their sound might be more Zeppelin-esque but in interviews some of them said they never even heard LZ until after they had been playing a while in high school. So they had a lot of other influences too.

there's a difference between being influenced by other bands and taking elements of their sounds (or even a band sounding similar) and a blatant rip off like the two guys in the OP.

Maybe. I didn't really listen to maybe 30 seconds of one song so I was not commenting on them specifically.

This. Zeppelin was influenced by older blues and rock but they certainly had their own unique sound and style. These guys are just doing Beastie Boys karaoke.

even down to shooting VHS or using a VHS affect in post on the videos, as well as dress, mannerisms, etc.

They might have better lyrics though TBH. And I love Beastie Boys, but their lyrics (esp Mic D and MCA's) are very amateur. Part of why I like them though.

Who did they copy? Led Zepp? Maybe Rush?

These guys popped up on my Spotify a couple of years ago and I'm glad they did. I'm not so concerned that they're biting the Beastie Boys' style because they're doing it very well. There's no one else doing that style right now and they're nailing it.

I thought Danny Brown was a perfect feature for them. He could be the third member IMO. However, I thought their newest album was weaker than their other stuff.

In my defense, I have only heard one of their songs ("Age of Man"...which I love). In that small sample size, I do see influences, but I also see very much their own style. Might investigate their catalog further, and I could definitely see them easily being able to be a LZ cover band with that voice and musical style...I just added that song to a playlist after buddy played it at the ranch after I had consumed a couple mushroom chocolates.
