I'm only 1 in but the GM seems pretty likeable. A guy who, not that long ago, was living on PBJs on the road as a scout.

Watching them interview the QBs prior to the draft was my favorite part so far, and I'm staying as far away from Jayden Daniels as I can.

as a former Redskins fan here in the DMV I was happy when Debold stated he would pick Daniels over Drake Maye and McCarthy!

what is amazing is these players are making TWENTY SIX MILLION DOLLARS in two years...

I've seen most of the Hard Knocks seasons but I think this one is the absolute best. Love seeing this part of the NFL. The inside access is insane. I thought my job was stressful but seeing the GM work free agency is crazy. These guys don't get enough credit.

Why he seemed most impressive to me.

We are Giants fan. My dad grew up in Garden City and he's loved them. Even though we moved and I was born in Houston I'm still a fan. For the life of me I can't understand what they say in Daniels. Dude is mediocre. I would have loved Jayden but I'm pumped we got Nabers, hes a dawg.

Big fan of Brian Daboll. Loved how he said he called Saban and asked him who gave them the most fits that one season, Nabers and Bowers. Cool scene.

Really enjoying this side of the nfl. With the fall camp or in-season version it is really just the same story over and over. This is cool. It does seem like this GM has a long term plan, he has the coach that is for sure.

I just didn't like the way he interviewed when they were asking him about plays and what he would do. The "what would you throw here" question being answered with "a touchdown" seemed like an answer someone who doesn't know how to read a defense would say. Yes the coach said he didn't hate the answer, but it gave off major Jamis Winston vibes for me. I could be wrong and he might be a start, but I think he will try to rely on his talent alone which we have seen with several other heisman trophy winning qbs.

I will say the Draft episode was very anticlimactic

It's also pretty funny considering Sam Bradford was awarded a 6 year $78 million contract in 2010 as the No. 1 overall pick.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=5425041

At the collective bargaining agreement thereafter the players agreed to kneecap rookies and drastically reduce the incoming players' contracts so the pot would be bigger for the vets signing FA contracts.

14 years later and the No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams signed a 4 year $39.5 million contract (with a club 5th year option). The salary cap in 2009 was $123 million, and the salary cap in 2024 is $255.4 million.

So the salary cap has more than doubled, but rookie contract's AV haven't caught back up to the Bradford era.

I've really appreciated this season as well, not nearly as formulaic as the other seasons of Hard Knocks. Showing the GM working with the scouting staff, the HC, owner, agents, and players shows all the different hats they have to wear to build a team. I liked hearing him discuss the cost of deals and knowing what's too much to move up, and the risks of moving down too far. It also looked like he and Mara have a good working relationship. I personally thought it was better that they went WR in the first round vs trading up for a QB. Jones has had injury issues but also hasn't had great weapons either, they needed to put a legit no 1 WR on the field to see what he looks like with that kind of guy. This was a better draft to need a WR at 6 than QB IMO. As much as I like Harrison, Nabers has an edge to him that I can see being appealing to Daboll who has a bit of an attitude as well. I also just think it's fun to have a guy who has a higher chance of running his mouth around the NY media like Nabors, than Harrison who already acts like a professional.

I really enjoyed the first season of the off-season version. This was by far my favorite version of the show and I hope they have more teams willing to do it.

One small fear is that teams won't allow as much access moving forward if they're picked, especially with things like the Saquon negotiation. I love getting to hear Schoen and the agent's conversation but I'm not sure we'll get that moving forward

Overall it was great. Love that they're rolling it right into the usual preseason one too on 8/6

So glad you posted this thread. I've become tired of the old Hard Knocks. This was outstanding and I can't believe I will be rooting for this team now. I absolutely loved the GM!!!

So. Does anyone think Jerry Jones has that level of knowledge of the players and other teams?
