My childhood he was the voice of Mufasa. Later he was Vader(much later, Star Wars was an acquired taste). He narrated Earth. He's one of the comforting voices of growing up a Disney kid. Very sad day.

And he is uncredited in the first Star Wars movie. Didn't want to eclipse the actor physically portraying Darth Vader.

I really hope he negotiated a huge deal for Empire, and when Lucas objected, he just said "I have altered the deal. Pray I do not alter it further."

Was at Magic Kingdom watching the fireworks last night. There is a solid 10 second part with Mufasa. It definitely hit different, and this grown man teared up.
