I thought there was big beef with the guitarist? Whatever their special mixture was, Cody Canada could not seem to find it without them. Whatever it is, count me in.

Cross is why they broke up,they couldn't stand being around him anymore. Maybe they have settled their differences. Cody had said he'd been offered a lot of money for reunions. Guess someone offered enough they couldn't turn down.

If they do actually get together for some shows. I'm in.

This will be an interesting development. Probably seeing the escalated popularity of Turnpike after the short hiatus and realizing that lots of folks would be down for this one too after a much longer time away.

I can just imagine the festival that kicks this all off.

It's probably because they're older now and enough time has passed to be able to put their differences aside. Same happened with GnR and the Eagles. Whether or not Oasis can be added is still TBD.

All of us in our mid 30s to early 40s are about to act like we are 17 again. CCR getting back together would be amazing.

It would be awesome if they did some co-headliner shows with Whiskey Meyers as I'd imagine their fan bases are pretty similar.

So the least talented/influential member of the band is why they broke up? What I would have given to play 6 chords in various orders and tour the country in a band.

I'm not ashamed to admit I would pay a stupid amount of money to see them live again. Not Taylor Swift prices, but well more than I should

Take me back to the days where you paid like $10-20 to see these bands in some bar like the Hall of Fame.

I had a show on KANM radio for awhile where I covered Texas country/Red Dirt/Americana. While I really enjoyed broadcasting, I was able to get into just about any show for free so I could cover the concert. 75% of the time I also ended up with a free cd or demo as well to play on air. I ended up on a few industry mailing lists and was routinely getting cds sent to me by record labels all to my little mailbox in the MSC.

Soul Gravy is probably the most played album I've ever owned. I'm in for this! Get Mike and Jason to come play with them too.

Got to see them for free in '04 at Harry's while working CARPOOL. I got pegged to go to the concert to help set up rides for people that needed them, but while the concert was going on, they let me and the other guy into the show, and I had a great time until it was over and we began working with dispatch.

And I'll put Chilifest 2004's lineup against any other out there as the best. From what I remember the lineup was:
Honeybrowne
Ryan Bingham
Randy Rodgers
Jason Boland
Cross Canadian Ragweed
Pat Green
Sammy Kershaw
George Jones

The full lineup is probably here if you have an account to go into their archives:

Circa 2001, I saw them at The Firehouse in Houston....the band/support team nearly equaled the number of paying customers.

The band took a break, mid-set, for the drummer to take a piss.

If the band members of Turnpike settled their differences with Evan, they can too. The money being thrown around for festivals is too much to pass up on! They would be able to play nonstop.

We'd go see Randy Rogers for free at Bourbon St Bar over by 4.0 and Go and be the only ones in there. Cover went up to like $3-$5 once he started getting more popular. They always had good shows, Cory Morrow, Max Stalling, etc.

Those of us who were at A&M from ~'99-'06 hit the music scene just right. Tons of big artists/bands just starting to hit it big but still reasonable to go see without killing our beer budget.

I don't think it's even open anymore. It wasn't the same after they rotated the stage to face the hill. Saw tons of great shows there, Pat, Cory, Creager, Ragweed, Charlie, Max, Randy Rogers, Band of Heathens, etc.

It was a great time for sure. Everyone was great in that first wave. Right after that the scene got over saturated with every dude who could halfway play a guitar trying to make a go of it. For every single Pat or Cory, you had 5 guys who might have had 1 good song, but really just sucked and you'd only go to their show because the dumb girl you were chasing liked them.

A fun discussion would be best studio and live albums from that era.

Correct about the DVD. I was at that concert, it was badass.

Always liked Reckless, but just never got really into them.

For studio, I think I have to go with Life of the Party by Charlie Robison. All songs on it are great, Indianola is one of my favorite songs all time, Loving County is so good too.

Live album, No2 Live Dinner-REK. Can't tell you how many times I've listened to this one all the way through. The definitive versions of Gringo Honeymoon and Dreadful Selfish Crime.
