It's never a great sign when your attorney is doing triage with the press. I imagine Freedman is wishing he had Lively/Reynolds/retainers' phones' contents too, because it can't be much fun going to war with his clients' texts to the hired help sensationally providing headlines in the ruh roh suit.

I think we are at the point where he realizes his career is completely torched, and is just hoping for hail Mary 1 or 2 percent settlement so he isn't financially insecure the rest of this life. He figures at some point it will be in Reynolds interest to settle. Reynolds might prefer scorched earth though. Gonna be fun to watch.

I'm now commenting on this thread because this topic is what my wife opened with this morning at the kitchen table. I don't really care what happens here but I feel compelled to tell the rest of you that.

This seems to have spiraled out of control. I just hope Lively wasn't banished from Taylor's box at the Super Bowl. That would bring me such despair.

What I find interesting is the comments section of websites like the Daily Mail. My 13 yo daughter watched Gossip Girl and by extension I had to watch a few episodes because our living room is right off the kitchen.

There are many articles about this feud on DM and I almost always go directly to the comments section to see what people think about it. What I find fascinating is how some of you appear to view this situation differently, but elsewhere most appear to be siding with her costar on DM. I just find it interesting. I don't know what to make of it. The contention that has emerged is likely more interesting than the actual movie.

Once again, I really don't care a whit about any of these people, nor have I ever watched a movie with BL in it other than a few episodes of GG that my daughter watched when I happened to be in the room. Once again, many of you appear to have a different take than most others if you go by large online periodicals.

Like you, probably anyone commenting there has also never seen any Blake Lively movie ever, didn't see the first A Simple Favor (which was quite good), and certainly were never going to watch the next one on Amazon.

For a real take- neither of these people are going to win any kind of lawsuit ever. She filed hers as a PR move (which I'm absolutely not defending). He filed his in a worse PR move. The difference is, she can work again and he's not going to direct or act in anything without significant private investments.

I don't think you understand how stories get fed to places like The Daily Mail- which is exactly the whole gist of this entire story- That PR companies feed stuff to random websites and a bunch of trolls come out.

I'm dubious reading hundreds of comments following a tabloid piece is informative as to any broader audience. Juxtaposing them with the tens of posts on an entertainment forum of a college sports website does sound fascinating though.

Granted a number of them are likely from or spawned by the respective camp's online retainers, but you have to think at least some of the comments are by random people with opinions about the celebs at hand.

I'm not sure how the dichotomy with tabloid posters can be explained - taking at face value you have the commentator zeitgeist pigeon holed.

Level of education maybe? Targeted audience? A Google search with Daily Mail and Lively turns up a hilariously relentless parade of hit pieces on her, so maybe that plays into it.
