I know an attention hoor who marked herself safe from the fires and posted on her instagram. She lives in Santa Cruz
I have friends in Long Beach and Redondo who marked themselves as safe.

I don't think there's ever been a fire anywhere near either one of those places.
Looks like Rancho Palos Verdes is the closest historically.

I can actually see how Rancho Palos Verdes could be vulnerable to such an outbreak. Lot's of open land and vegetation from what I remember...a lot of the older homes a little further east of PCH are on relatively high-acreage. Beautiful place though. That Trump National course is incredible with constant surreal views...although pretty difficult.

I can only hope that other nations around the world send their money and support to us like we do for them.
So far, firefighters from Mexico and Canada have responded and are on the ground. Ukraine has offered to send 150 firefighters and Iran's Red Crescent offered up some emergency response teams. California declined the offer from Iran and instead asked for donations to relief efforts. Japan has allocated $2 million to donate to those affected by the fire.

I'm not sure if any other countries have offered support at that level.
LOL, that's not even a drop in the bucket. Member Hussein Obama secretly giving Iran $1.7B? We are basically a welfare office for the rest of this deadbeat world.

RPV is beautiful and there is some vegetation that has burned there in the past.

A friend of mine got married at the Wayfarer's Chapel. It's been in a few movies / music videos, etc. That place was amazing.

In my LA Facebook groups that I'm still following, I've seen lots of anti-Trump complaints that Trump hasn't opened up his golf course / hotel (I don't know what he owns in LA) to fire refugees. Typical anti-Republican babbling.

I'm a solid conservative who thinks Cali has lost it's absolute mind and drifted further left than I could have ever imagined...but even being a lifelong Texan I am still in love with that state and always have been....and would live out there in a heartbeat (if I could afford anything other than a tiny apt or condo). If I was single, I could live in a tiny studio there, as I find myself spending like 90% of my waking hours outdoors every time I'm out there. Just give me a bed, fridge and a TV.

It's one of the most naturally beautiful places in the world, and THE ideal climate. The people I have met in the OC and in the Los Angeles burbs have been generally very friendly and down to earth. I have been paired with wealthy locals at Pelican Hill twice and was surprised by how down to earth they were...I may have just gotten lucky, as I always hear about how unbearable the coastal rich ppl are.

If I ever win the mega or powerball, I am buying a nice place in Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, San Clemente, La Jolla or Rancho Santa Fe and surfing or golfing my @ss off for the rest of my life. Fell in love with SoCal upon my first trip to San Pedro as a 7 yr old to visit my aunt and uncle. Jealous of people who can afford to live there and send their kids to good schools.

Agree.

When you spend a little time there, you quickly realize why people put up with and even adapt to the BS.

Spent four days in Napa Valley last year in October and it was like heaven on earth. Absolutely perfect weather and beautiful scenery.

I'm not disagreeing with your post, but this particular line is puzzling. How can you say 'California' is THE ideal climate?
It has nearly a dozen different climates that vary wildly even just 10-20 miles away.
So you have to expand a little bit on what you think the perfect climate is, because 'California' isn't one.

I think he was talking about RPV and the LA Basin, including "The OC".

Yeah, once you go into the SFV, or the IE, it's a different climate.

And obviously the Central Valley, the Bay Area, the High Desert, etc. are totally different.

If you're south of the Hollywood sign and west of Yorba Linda, down to San Clemente, you're in dreamland.

And back during peak California lockdowns (April 2020), the sky was clear too.

to be fair he said 'I love that state and would live out there in a heartbeat'

Then someone replies to say 'yeh I was in Napa and it was perfect'

So I don't know how I'm supposed to infer he's talking about a specific tiny pocket of land.

Meant coastal and near coastal SoCal specifically, just loose with my wording….maybe Newport through San Clemente down to San Diego isn't the absolute most pleasant climate in the world, but it's close enough. Especially for this lifelong Houstonian. It's a large part of the reason people are willing to pay/sacrifice so much to live there.

One of the only remaining selling points of living there imo. I agree though, Cali is huge with a variable climate.

I would actually rather live a few miles inland than on the coast actually….less marine layer hanging around throughout the day, and not so chilly.
