Just a heads up for Zepp fans, this documentary will be hitting IMAX theaters this Thursday.

Just bought my ticket. Excited for this.

If anyone is interested, the book "Led Zeppelin" by Bob Spitz is a fascinating look into the life of the band. Plenty has been written about Bonham and his adventures, but Jimmy was an absolute maniac. And just about all of them were hedonistic, perverted pedophiles outside of JPJ.

Gonnna post it again even if it isn't fully relevant, because it's my single favorite love perfomance ever. And shows what they mean to so many.

That was easily one of the best music docs I've ever seen.

It's almost two and a half hours long, but the editing and pacing is so well done that it flies by. When it ended, I was actually taken aback cause it felt like it ended too early.

That's probably my one and only complaint, that it feels like it cuts off in the "middle" of the story. I could easily watch 5 of these that take us through the entire history of the band.

I highly recommend this to be seen in IMAX for the fantastic sound. I've never heard any of those songs from LZ 1-2 in such high fidelity, and a whole bunch of live performances I'd obviously never seen before.

Can't recommend this enough for Zeppelin fans.

Saw it last night in Imax! It was really awesome, and I'm a LONG time Zep fan who has read all the books, had tons of bootlegs, etc. Some of that audio was absolutely amazing, and the interviews were excellent. Highly recommend!!!

I'm not even a Zep fan and that song has been played to death but dang if that tribute didn't bring tears to my eyes.

What a feeling it must be to be honored by those you inspired, performing one of your creations that well, with so much emotion.

I'd love to see this in IMAX but it's not being shown locally.

It's crazy to think about what ifs, but after the Yardbird's broke up, Jimmy Page was close to forming a new group with Jeff Beck, Keith Moon, John Entwistle and Steve Winwood as a vocalist.

All in all I'm glad things turned out the way they did.

To me Plant is easily the greatest Rock vocalist in history, and only Chris Cornell can even get close to the same universe.

Doesn't look like it's showing here in B/CS. Bullsh as usual.

Really good documentary and the sound in the IMAX is terrific. I had no idea that Jones and Page played on so many hits before like Goldfinger, To Sir with Love, Donovan, etc. In fact JPJ arranged the score for Lulu on To sir with Love.

Page was not only a savvy musician but did a great job on their contract with Atlantic Records, I'm guessing that came from his experience as a session musician.

Looking forward to seeing this but would rather just watch it at home.

To this day, Jimmy Page at Madison Square Garden is the guitar tone I am always searching for.

Caught this over the weekend and thought it was fantastic. So much unseen footage, full song performances, insight from the members, on and on.

I hope this will be a series that covers their entire career.

FYI it looks like this is going much wider this upcoming weekend, beyond just IMAX screens.

Still won't play in every small town, but if you're in a decently big city you will likely be able to see it.

Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son, played the drums for that performance.

Bought tickets to see this on the real IMAX at Bob Bullock in Austin… However, we had to shift days and they have a no refund policy.

So if anyone wants to see this in Austin at Bob Bullock Thursday (2/13) at 7:30, let me know and I'll cut you a deal. I have 3 total tickets.

Went last night. Really well done. Just fantastic.

Really touching when they all got to hear John's voice. You know it's been so long since they have heard him. Plant even more so as they were together as kids.

Hoping like hell they do another one or two to tackle the rest of their run.

Yeah, that was probably one of the highpoints. Just the look on their faces, from one of the few or possibly only interview he ever gave.

Really enjoyed the way it was put together. A lot of meat in the first hour on their personal backgrounds, influences, and how they all came together.

I was watching in a small empty theater, basically a private one-man screening, so I whipped out my phone and took notes on stuff to listen to later.

Glad I got to see it, though digital was the only option for the time I could go.

Saw it last night with my son (29 and a big LZ fan too).

I thought it was absolutely amazing despite being really hyped for it because of this thread. It did not disappoint in any way. the pacing was awesome and touched on so much in that period from mid 1968 through the start of 1970 plus the back story stuff on their upbringing and younger years.

Loved every bit of it.

Some stand out stuff of course a lot I had never seen before.

The early performance in 1968 on some Scandinavian tour and a live recording in some Teen Club was incredible. The people in attendance not knowing what they were seeing, Sitting on their hands really or even kids covering their ears and Bonham is just hammering away like he was trying to kill those drums; PJP laying down an infectious groove under the whole thing; Page with some scorching solo's already and just shredding it; and Page preening and wailing like only he could. Everything LZ was or ever would be seemed like it was right there in those early shows. They never changed really.

The early live show from Fillmore West and a scorching rendition of Dazed and Confused with a frenzied west coast hippie kind of audience was equally amazing. They were at least into it.

Struck me as funny how LZ made it in completely the opposite way that the Beatles did. The Beatles made it in the UK first and by way of singles and then came to America and went from east to west. LZ did albums released in America first and went west coast to east coast building fans through live shows and FM radio playing the entire album and doing radio appearances. UK was slower to catch on to them and only when they went back and had been established already.

Anyway the interviews with Page, Plant and JPJ were great I only wish maybe some of it was all of them together. But them seeing footage they had not seen in decades and hearing John's recorded voice was incredible to see their genuine reactions. And Plant talking openly about lyrics and where some of it came from was awesome.

I could have watched 6 hours of it and never tired of it. But for that snapshot from formation through LZII and the Royal Albert Hall in early 1970 it was great.

10/10 if you are a LZ fan at all.
