Anybody else get this email? Wasn't sure where to post.

========

With YouTube TV, our goal is to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want it. To make this happen, we enter into agreements with network partners to make their content available on YouTube TV. As such, we've been negotiating with Paramount to reach a fair agreement that allows us to keep their channels, including CBS, on YouTube TV without compromising the value of our service. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we've been unable to reach an agreement.

On February 13, 2025, all Paramount channels will likely become unavailable on YouTube TV. If this happens, this will impact previous Library recordings from these channels, Paramount content in the Entertainment Plus package, and add-on services like Paramount+ with SHOWTIME and BET+. Should Paramount content become unavailable, we will continue to update our Help Center with the latest.

We know how frustrating and disruptive it is to lose channels you enjoy on YouTube TV, and we're committed to providing you with the best possible entertainment experience. That's why we'll continue advocating on your behalf to offer you more flexibility in how you watch your favorite sports and shows while preserving the value of our service. It's our goal to restore Paramount content to YouTube TV, but if we do not come to an agreement and their content is unavailable for an extended period of time, we'll offer our YouTube TV subscribers an $8 credit. You can still watch Paramount shows and movies by signing up for their streaming service, Paramount+, starting at $7.99/month. For more information on how we're addressing our Paramount+, BET+, and Entertainment Plus subscribers, please visit our Help Center.

We hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we understand some of our members may want to cancel their subscriptions. As always, family managers have the ability to pause or cancel anytime. You can find more information in our Help Center.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work towards a fair agreement with Paramount. As always, we sincerely appreciate your YouTube TV membership.

Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team

Raising prices another $10 and then dropping this news. Looking more like a regular cable company by the day

Ok, what would be best for my family? We need...

  • All of ESPN, I do not want to miss any A&M games. I feel kind of dumb, but we already have ESPN+. Am I good, or do I miss some stuff?
  • Local content with DVR, mainly for sports but some shows and local news

We already have
Disney
ESPN+
Amazon Prime

ESPN+ by itself doesn't get you much if you don't subscribe to a service (YTTV, Hulu Live, etc) that carries the ESPN channels. As long as you have a service that has ABC and the ESPNs, you will see all Aggie football games, unless we have an away game against another conference, like the ND game this year, which should be on NBC.

My first instinct is to stay this is why I now only use streaming services. However, I don't care much about live TV or sports (have rabbit ears for the local news). Also, the content providers still get into pissing matches with device makers like Roku. You can be subscribed to a service but without an app to watch it on your device of choice.

Hulu+ Live TV would get you all of your locals and ESPN channels plus TNT, FS1 and 2, CBSSN, MLB and NFL networks, etc. They also have DVR functionality. I never use it for live sports personally I think it may sometimes have issues with sports running over its allotted time but I have not experienced it.

That gets you all A&M games regardless on potentially any of these: ESPN, ABC, SEC and NBC.

Additionally unlike YTTV that gets you all of Hulu's original content.

When it comes to A&M sports the only thing at risk to you is there is a chance the basketball team's NCAA tournament game could be on CBS. Granted you can pick that up with an antenna. I would think its resolved by the time the Masters rolls around.

Yellowstone finished airing its latest season so unless you are playing catchup via DVR/on-demand you wont be impacted. I assume that is the only thing on the Paramount Network that anyone cares about.

Nothing of real value is lost with no MTV. Nothing is lost with no Comedy Central. You can catch most of Daily Show clips on Youtube the next day.

The possible biggest impact is the loss of Nickelodeon for those with kids. But most kids I know these days don't really watch Nickelodeon as kids are more likely to watch some Youtube streamer and you can watch most of the popular stuff like spongebob on other streaming apps and/or PlutoTV channels.

Paramount/Viacom has been the most resistant to leave the cable model behind and whet little top quality programing they have is mostly legacy shows that can be found on their streaming app. I think many cable providers are going to be looking at the Paramount channel package and seeing that there is almost nothing of value there in the modern media landscape and balking at providing it unless its at a discounted rate.

There's a lot i watch on Paramount. Landman, Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, and 1923 is getting ready to start again. I'm sure there's more but those come to mind.

There's also all of March madness which are all on Viacom channels.

TNT, TBS, and truTV are all Warner Bros Discovery channels. But the final four and championship are on CBS along with 1/4 of all the previous round games.

Ok, so if you're a Taylor Sheridan fan then you lose all of that. They really should rename Paramount Network to Sheridan Show Net

Every streaming service goes through this with the big networks anytime their contracts are up. Its not limited to YoutubeTV and they also arent immune to it.
This will get resolved before march madness in some way or another.

Those shows are all exclusive to Paramount +, their streaming service. Yellowstone is the only thing shown on the actual Paramount channel, but they don't currently have the streaming rights to it.

That was a fun one to explain to my parents.

Me: Ok so to start watching Yellowstone you need Peacock

Mom: OK, and what about new episodes?

Me: You watch those on Paramount Network

Mom: Which one is that?

Me. Ch 241

Mom: And what about the new 1923 show?

Me: Paramount+

Mom: Ch 241?

Me: No, the streaming app

Paramount is a pain in the ass.

My 4 year old son loves some nick jr shows, paw patrol, rubble and crew, and blaze I think are the main ones. It's the only streaming service I can think of that doesn't have new shows on it. He is obsessed with baseball so loved the rubble and crew aaron judge episode (unfortunately). We had to record it because it still isn't available on paramount +.

Probably because these disputes are becoming more frequent and often lasting longer. My stepmom in Texarkana couldn't get the local Fox affiliate on Directv for a year or two (Maybe even to this day. Not sure)

Yup, that sounds right. Like I said they still way over value their cable content. Paramount+ is purely older content that has been out for over a year or Paramount+ exclusive. The other app/network companies will put their cable/network shows on the app either a day later or sometimes a few weeks. Paramount straight up wants to keep you looked in to a cable plan to see their channels which are 99% reruns and then act shocked when viewership is tanked.

I have a Tablo 4th Gen DVR and a ANTOP Indoor UHF/VHF Antenna(on the 2nd floor as Height of antenna matters a lot). Both have amplifiers.
I have a 1 TB External drive attached to the DVR, and get all my locals. I have both amps on because
my local Fox sends out a weak signal, but it comes in great with the 2 amps on.

I had YTTV during football season, but going forward I may get Sling so i can get more my money.
as it doesn't have all locals, only Fox where I live(Austin Metro).

For just ESPN you can get Sling Orange plus the Sports Extra for about $57 plus tax.
Limited DVR at that price.

Later this year ESPN is supposedly coming out with an ESPN only streaming service which will probably be less than $40.

I think you get paramount+ free with a Walmart+ subscription. Good thing about the Walmart subscription is you get 10 cents off per gallon of gas and free deliveries. Great deal in the subscription/streaming world with the added bonus that you don't have to go in to a Walmart.

If you have amex platinum, you get a free Walmart+ subscription so you get free paramount as well.

Just FYI, Larry and David Ellison recently bought Paramount and the deal should close in the next couple of months. When it finally does, expect a lot of changes, streamlining, etc, all hopefully for the better, over the next year or so. The company has been in disarray for a while now but the vision David Ellison has for it sounds incredibly promising.

Yup. For my dad it would start "do you want to watch the Dallas Stars?" > Yes > Are they already on NHL Network or ESPN? > No > Open the Victory+ app with the streaming remote...

Sounds like literally every discussion on the football board about espn+ vs espn.

They really need to fire all these fools who name these services this way.
