Villeneuve has made it his next project. He was initially going to do another film first.

Well I best get to finishing my read of The Lost War For Texas so I can read-read Dune Messiah before it comes out. I am a notoriously slow reader.

I liked this book more than Dune. Excited for this one.

Not to mention its much shorter in length so a very quick read.

June is unlikely, but at some point this summer for sure…

Will the biggest spoiler of this movie be ruined quickly or actually be unknown for most people until watching?

I'm sure it will be spoiled by trailers and articles but I'm really hoping they manage to keep it a secret.

How do you keep a movie secret that's had its book out for half a century?

Well my real question is, does the actual movie posters and trailers ruin it immediately? You can't keep the internet down.

All this talk about a big spoiler is worrying to me. I only read the first half of Dune and honestly wasn't that impressed with Frank Herbert's writing. I am more a fan of Denis Villeneuve's film making, so decided to not read the back half of the book, instead waiting to watch Denis' film.

I plan to do the same with Dune: Messiah, and I abhor spoilers. Really hope I can make it to the movie without any. The ones I tend to get these days are some stupid thumbnail of a random video being recommended by YouTube.

Herein lies the problem. I fear a LOT of the movie will be sourced by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson fanfic. They wrote a book bridging Dune and Dune Messiah, so I am sure those two are more thrilled than any Dune super fans.

The JV movies casting was at least a 50% failure despite what the experts say. The visuals were pretty amazing and there's no reason to think Dune Messiah won't be on the same scale as far as look and feel.

There are some new things to be hopeful about with this movie, and hopefully Timothy and Zendaya don't ruin it.

To be honest, I have no idea what to expect from Messiah. The change with Chani from the end of the 2nd movie kinda leaves a big plot hole that needs to be fixed before the main chunk of Messiah can get rolling. Unless they just magic away her anger at Paul

He put a spoiler tag on it...

For real though there are 2 things I want from this movie, a frickin stoneburner, and the birth of the baddest set of twins in SciFi. Whatever else happens with the movie I really hope the ending is shot for shot from the book. Unfortunately the way part 2 ended I am skeptical... He has to reconcile with Chani for this to happen right?

talk about Rise of Skywalker retconn vibes, it would feel like a reversal of the end of part 2. Which unfortunely would cheapen the end of part 2, IMHO.

Reading from the illiterate thread, I do find it promising that it appears the twins and Scytale are both cast. Since they are older are we getting a merger of Messiah and Children? Or will it be a flash forward like we saw in part 2 with Alia?

If they can keep casting like he has, Dennis should really just adapt all 6 books and make the Sci-fi equivalent of the Lord of the Rings masterpiece. I know I'm alone in this but the weird Dune aspects are the best Dune, if anyone can adapt it Dennis can.

Man, I just don't see how this is possible. I read the first four books last year. Dune was a re-read from 30 years prior and the next three were first-time reads.

Messiah is not film worthy. At all. Readers hated it when it came out because it's nothing like Dune. And while I didn't hate it, I understand the derision.

Everything after the original Dune is a fairly boring slog of philosophical musing with not much action.

Genpop would not like a straight retelling of Messiah from the book, so I think there is a reason JV did what he did in the Dune Part 2....

I read Dune a couple of times. I loved it. Still love it, simply a great book. When I read Dune: Messiah, I was underwhelmed. But I'm going to read it a second time once I finish Project Hail Mary.

I read Dune, then tried to start Messiah and couldn't get into it.

Came back to it probably a year or so later and then knocked out the rest of the OG series.

I think it has its ups and downs but ultimately I'm glad I read the entire series. To me, you either only read Dune, or you buckle yourself in for the whole thing. Dune is a great self contained story but the rest lose a lot of luster unless you get all the way through.

Yeah, I paused after God Emperor. Next book is 1,500 years later so I thought I would take an analogous pause before I go back to it.
