I like Cavill, and he certainly looks the part, but he's probably just a bit too old at this point, and more importantly, IMO, I just don't think he quite has the rizz to pull off the more cheeky/flirty/playful elements of the character.

Ultimately, I'd go with an unknown, but if I had to choose from the current knowns/candidates, I'd go with Theo James.

I was going to mention him earlier. Theo James would be really good. I thought this after we watched The Gentlemen when I had no idea he was English

I didn't see a Cinematic Universe for Bond working. Unless you're going to also buy Mission Impossible and Bourne, and create a Spy Universe, I don't see how a Bond universe really differentiates itself from any other spy genre movie. Comic book universes work because they have a trove of characters they can pull from, and they have decades of stories so they already know what works. They've already turned all the Bond books into movies. There are some good Bond villains, but I don't really see any of them really being strong enough to carry their own movies. Bond is really the only great character.

He got EC credits on Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Justice League and ZS Justice League.

But we also don't know what he asked for or what he was offered to create DCEU.

He has the juice to name his own price, and if they won't meet it, he can walk.

Who else under 70 would have more juice to dictate complete control of Bond, especially if Amazon just paid Broccoli a billion to go away? Mendes did a great job with Skyfall, but he isn't close to Nolan.

I love Tarantino but wouldn't want to put him in charge. I do love Fincher, but again, he would be way below Nolan.

You absolutely, positively, have to go to Nolan first and see what it would take to get him and his brother to create the blueprint and write/direct at least a trilogy.

I guess it's a good thing MGM was bought by Amazon and not Paramount, otherwise we may get Bond in the Sheridanverse.

45 or 50 for Hollywood men in 2025 ain't what it was in 1970. It's more like 10 years younger for screen appearance among the dudes that take care of themselves. Case in point: Ryan Reynolds is 48 and Hugh Jackman is 56. Go google them on the press junket for Deadpool and Wolverine.

I don't think there is any question that actors (or people in general) don't typically look aged as much as they did back in the 60s-70s.

But Craig was also in incredible shape and didn't insist on doing all the stunts like Cruise does, and he was wildly complaining about the toll being Bond takes on the body while still in his 40s.

If you are talking about starting an entire universe and the first movie will come out in 3-4 years, you probably aren't going to pick a guy in his 40s just because he looks younger than a guy in his 40s in the 70s.

I don't think I'm alone in this, but I liked the older Bond energy that Moore delivered. Some fun movies in his run.

Obviously this won't happen due to the investment Amazon has made in the IP, but I wish No Time To Die was the final movie in the series. The world has changed so much over the decades and I just don't see how the classic Bond persona really fits into today's geopolitical and cultural climate. And given the events of No Time To Die, it makes for a fitting final film in an amazing decades long series.

The "geopolitical and cultural climate" is manufactured by a bunch of ****tards in Washington D.C. and braindead ******* in Fortune 100 board rooms who have decided that they all know what people want better than the people themselves, and it's all bull****

The classic Bond persona is more relevant and more needed today than it ever has been.

We need casual sexual assault now more than ever? You can try to convince yourself that social norms are manufactured, but they aren't. People other than white men have money and purchasing power now. Companies respond to that, not the other way around. They try to appeal to as broad an audience as they can. And it works fine when there's good writers and directors and actors. Same as everything else.

I agree. I really have no desire to see a BCU.

I could possibly be up for renting an origin story for Jaws....maybe.

Or, maybe we will get an Office style mockumentary starring the workers on Moonraker.

accept a new Bond following
This was said with Connery, Moore, and Bronson. Not so much for Lazenby or Dalton as those guys got 1 and 2 films respectively, and the latter saw a 6 year gap following his last movie before Brosnan took up the role.
I'd bet 90% plus of "Bond fans" couldn't tell you who Lazenby is or have any idea his film exists.
True Bond fans (as opposed to "Bond fans") should know of Lazenby and his single movie. As Bond movies go, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a pretty good one with a memorable villain (Telly Savalas).
And one of, if not the Best Bond girls ever.

It'll be interesting to see the dynamic. Some of the problems with Rings of Power and Wheel of Time, in my opinion, come from trying to appeal to a broader (read less nerdy) audience to justify the price tag while still telling the fantasy story. Bond is a popular icon that doesn't just appeal to a small niche. They may have more confidence in the stories they want to tell.

What a useless say nothing attention grabbing headline.
A "top franchise producer" believes that Amazon has probably already contacted Christopher Nolan to direct the next James Bond movie since "there is strong mutual desire to make it happen."

An unnamed top producer believes that someone has probably been contacted.

I believe that A&M probably will will the National Championship this year.

Chill.

It's the "strong mutual desire" part that's news. Meaning Nolan hasn't moved on from the prospect. Along with confirmation that Nolan is, indeed, Amazon's top target. Meaning they're not rushing it, are willing to wait on him, etc. None of this means it's happening, of course, only that each side is still interesting in keeping the lines of communication open.

I would love for Nolan to take on Bond, but I will remain skeptical until he actually signs on and starts casting. Especially right now. Nolan just started filming a movie halfway around the world and is a one project at a time kind of director (who doesn't even have a cell phone), so I doubt he is even thinking about ANY other movie, let alone Bond, right now. The question is, will Amazon wait until late 2026/early 2027 to even start having convos about the direction Nolan would want to take Bond and it end up not working out?

Nolan has Amazon by the balls. They paid Broccoli $1B to go away.

No one in the world is a better fit to create a profitable Bong Universe. The question will be how much he will squeeze out of them. Does he get a billion to develop the universe blueprint and direct write and direct the first three features?

Based on the way Nolan has worked, it seems crazy that he would tie himself up in this franchise.

You'd think it would have to be a multi-pic deal to make it work, and I just can't imagine him tying himself down to that at this point.
