The hate on the accent cracks me up. I didn't think it was bad, but even if it is, it's such a tiny part of the show. There are soooo many other things to co plain about.
Episode 1. This is maybe the worst accent I have ever seen make its way to the finished product
"That's payback for Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins" - Susan Duffy, probably.
The amnesia that McCabe has is pretty ridiculous plot armor, has to be said.

I think you are all being silly acting like Season 1 was any better than this. Most of the things you are complaining about were the same in the previous seasons.

When she turned to the fat guy (who will die I'm sure) and exclaimed "Teresa is still alive!" might have been the single worst acting job I've ever witnessed. OK, worst for a prime time show or whatever this qualifies as.
It's still great escapism but man, the acting is really rough. It's not like the actor playing Reacher is that gifted either.
I did enjoy the dude getting tortured on the boat exclaiming "who the hell is Quinn?!!??" That was good.

Neagley's distance when following people has been hilarious.
Aside from the surprisingly intense scene between Beck and Rich, this episode didn't really do much for me. Should be a fun finale next week.
Meh, just too over the top and outlandish writing. I'll finish the season but no season 4 for me.

Also, was anyone else as confused as I was that they were able to fly to LA and back in the span of what seemed like hours. Why even say the other guy was in LA, just say he was in Boston, what's the difference except it was jarring how they act like an 8+ hour flight is no big deal and you know they flew commercial and cheap with lots of layovers so it was probably like 12 hours.
Yes there were other ridiculous plot points and plot armor but the whole "bring your suntan lotion we're going to LA" was just an unnecessary excursion that was silly and completely unrealistic.

Dude, the accent is awful, and it is the biggest, most noticeable and cringe part of the show. It is definitely not a tiny part of the show. She is in 90% of the scenes and can never shut up.

It was unquestionably way better, and there is not even a debate to be had.
The first episode had mystery, a compelling storyline, and Reacher beating up a prison. About as good of an opening episode as you could ask for.
It had genuine intrigue - why was Reacher in a small town where his brother was just murdered? Yes, they pretty much hand-waved the reasoning towards the end but it got you hooked.bthotugigem05 said:

This has nothing that hooks you at all. Before the season it seemed like the hook was "Reacher against a guy WAY bigger than him and can actually kick his ass." Besides a couple of scenes that hasn't been the case at all and I wonder if they just shoe-horned it into the show and wasn't part of the novel (I never read Persuader).
I like it better than season 2 but not as much as season 1. Season 1 is hard to top, and the supporting cast was very strong. Duffy's accent doesn't bother me as much as it does some.
Catching up on this thread after catching up with the show before the finale, more hate than I expected. It's not award winning tv but it's fun for what it is.

Enjoyed the last episode. Apparently the Clegane Bowl II fight took 3 weeks to film and almost a year to plan and rehearse.
It hasn't dawned on him yet but at some point the kid is going to realize that if he'd done a better job repairing the toy gun his Dad may still be alive.

Well, this season ****ing sucked.
I still question the book choices they're making. The first season had so much villain intrigue that just hasn't been there for the other seasons. It wasn't just how demented the villains were (Lee Child comes up with some really messed up villains), but season 1 had so many twists and turns about who the villain actually was and who was working with them that made the season more fun.
Seasons 2 and 3 had clear villains, clear people working for them (aside from the Was He Wasn't He from their old friend in Season 2), and clear demented psychopathic tendencies that were revealed after a lot of the action happened already. I think Season 2 was partially motivated by the need to figure out who the spinoff character would be, but other than that I just feel like there have been better books to use.
The beginning of Season 3 was absolutely fantastic but the Theresa was just so hollow, like the impetus didn't really match the passion, especially since Duffy had no real issue sacrificing her own agent, a half dozen ATF agents, and an overweight guy knocking on the door of retirement to find her.

Overall it was fun but definitely didn't have the intrigue of s1, don't know if that's due to the book it was based on or how they interpreted it. Definitely no lack of action in the finale so it was entertaining to see all that happen, but as a whole the season was just ok.
Still looking forward to s4 and Neagley's show, it's fun popcorn entertainment.

Wrapped this up as of last night. I describe watching Reacher to my golf game. Some good shots, some WTF shots, then on hole 18 I birdie, and that gets me back out there next week to try it all again. Is Reacher perfect, hell no, do I have fun, yep! And everytime they land the ending and that final episode always leaves me with a hell yeah, I'm in for the next round!

I go in knowing that this is going to be just like the 80/90's action movies of the past. Reacher is every bit Arnold, Sly, Van Damme, Dolph and Seagal. Packaged into a 2020s ethos and subject matter. For anyone expecting more, go find a new show. These will be poorly written, acted, but the action and suspense will always be there.

Decent viewpoint - agreed I just watch it for the fights and caustic responses.
The whole season was mostly meh to me but a fun-ish ride. I didn't care that much about anybody. But I can't not watch it. <Shrug>
One thing that occurs to me during these is it is really hard to get drawn into to any character outside of Reacher knowing he is a complete drifter and they are just fodder (good side and bad side) for this season. Other than Neagely who is only around sporadically none of the rest are gonna be there next time.
Having the chick have the same attitude as him and walk away was kinda funny this time - left him speechless basically. Her accent was entertaining to me most of the time. To me all yankee accents sound that bad IRL. Anyway the fact that hers was more over the top and kind of grating is exactly what I imagine people like that talk like anyway. Usually it's not that bad but to hear it that bad was great - lol. Like the accents in Good Will Hunting were 90% of that to me anyway. Doesn't affect my love for that movie. So why not go fully 100% over.
Especially in a cartoon like this show. <Shrug>
Will I watch if they make another - sure. It's a low cost low commitment show.
