"Four laugh tracks?"

I've never heard anyone describe each instance of laughing as a separate "track."

I've seen this rebuttal plenty, but I've never seen that actual defense of the show. Never heard anyone make the claim that since the show is about scientists, it's for a smart audience.

I've seen it several times, aimed at both me and others on FB threads, as if there's anyone dumb enough out there to not understand the attempt at humor by any Chuck Lorre production. I don't like the humor on the show because it tries too hard to lean into stereotypes, making them into caricatures.

Young Sheldon is much better than BBT.
What's amazing to me about Young Sheldon is that both my sons (19 and 16) watch it and both love it. The amazing part is that like most Gen Z boys, they don't consume, or consume very little, of this type of media. Outside of kid/family programs when they were little I don't recall them watching any network tv or sitcoms.

I also find it funny that my 80 year old dad loves Big Bang Theory. I don't think he followed any sitcoms since the 80's.

As nerd, or whatever, mainly what I didn't like about it was being told all the time that I should watch it and how good it was by non-nerds.

Or maybe, it's not their fault and you're just too stupid to understand the jokes

Who argues about sitcoms on Facebook? Much less sitcoms they don't like?

BBT was a great show that was nerdy enough for the super nerds who don't take themselves too seriously. While also not being too nerdy for those of us who enjoy nerdy stuff, but aren't super fans of the nerdy things they talked about (comics, LOTR, Star Wars, fantasy, sci-fi, Dr. Who, etc).

You're right. Facebook is a forum normally reserved for cancer research and international diplomacy.

Oh, wait....No, it's not. It's an app for cat videos, poitical tribalism and yes, arguing about the quality of sitcoms.

The jokes were a bit too telegraphed of anything. I could watch an episode for the first time and say the punch line before the characters did. My hated watching it with me.

Great TV show! I watched it a few years ago as well, and it was definitely a fun experience. I agree, Young Sheldon doesn't quite compare, but it's still enjoyable in its own way. I was just checking some Tubi TV reviews here, and it looks like they offer a wide range of streaming options too. I'm actually considering signing a contract with them now because it seems like a solid alternative for free streaming
