I remember hearing this bands couple of hits within the last year and thinking it was ok.
Their live show adds a LOT and is so much better. The guitar and drums are more prominent, and he has a female vocalist with backing harmonies (she also sometimes sings lead) and plays saxophone.
Its pretty great, Im not really big on country or pop music and still think this live performance is great.

Sturgill Simpson will play with a band. Check out SNL performance of Call to Arms.



70's and 80's country would have sax, trumpet, and trombone in songs. Merle Haggard comes to mind.

On his podcast Rob Lowe and a guest were pondering what his St. Elmo's Fire character's career would have been like by the end of the 80s and into the 90s. Can't remember who the guest was.
At least they had a sax represented in the band during the movie.

Also, he played himself on "King of Queens" (and played the sax) so that gets him extra credit in my book.

Gunship feature Tim Cappello on tons of their tracks off that Unicorn album and prior stuff. Monster in Paradise was what made me preorder physical media from them because it just hit right when I heard it. Cover of China in your Hand has Tim on it as well, Gunship just in my wheelhouse and Cappello still nails it when featured. Dark All Day, the power glove remix, has good sax from Tim too!
