It was super goofy and dorky but all my kids loved it.

I'll never see this movie but that's okay ... I think it's cool that kids -- especially boys -- have a movie of their own that they can get fired up over.

The movie itself wasnt great, like others said, but it was fun. Every time they showed something new, you can hear a low whispering of the kids explaining to their parents what it was.

This was me. I played Minecraft with my kids as part of doing something with them. I loved blowing **** up with TNT. They would get a kick out of me doing it.

Did your theater audiences go ape **** at the chicken jockey and lava chicken song?

Wife and I want to go to a matinee showing this weekend just for the audience reactions alone. The chicken jockey theater raves look absolutely incredible lol

I'm taking my kids tomorrow. I've never played Minecraft, so I guess this is the one movie where I don't care about stupid teenager disruptions.

Alright, wife and I booked a Fri night showing.

Back row of the theater, sandwiched between two groups. Almost full.

I usually hate crowded theaters, and I know almost nothing about Minecraft. But I'm here for the experience

You're getting two shows for the price of one. The movie and the people watching. Have fun.

It was mildly entertaining, but my kids loved it, and that's what mattered.

To the people making the Zelda movie: please, please, please do not make a movie about a person from Earth magically getting sucked into Hyrule. Humans getting whisked away into video game land is a plot that needs to die on a hill.

Never played minecraft, never saw a preview or even a commercial for this. I had no idea about a single detail of this thing. Have been hassled since it came out by my 10 year old and he keyed me into the theater experience.

Within the first 5 minutes i noticed a vibe to the film and it was familiar. Opening credits said "directed by Jared Hess" and it all clicked. This movie was a video game version of Nacho Libre in all the best ways. If you liked the quirkiness of that movie you'll love this. Lots of really really funny adult lines in there. I laughed out loud several times.

Jason Momoa was so damn fun in this movie. It was awesome to see him goof off.

TLDR: went in knowing and expecting nothing, ended up having an absolute blast

Can you imagine doing shrooms at this movie and then chicken jockey breaks out?

We did a double feature. Minecraft first followed by Warfare. Could not have been more of a different experience for each lol

This movie was so dumb lol, but I genuinely enjoyed the authentic crowd reactions from the kids in the theater

There were some dumbazz older teens purposely acting like fools and faking excitement, but you know that's gonna happen.

Chicken Jockey was epic. "Muh diamonds" was hilarious. My favorite part was at the end when a group of kids were waiting for the post-credits scene, and they were HYPE. Reciting Minecraft lore, talking at breakneck speed about sequel possibilities, just so fun to see that level of genuine fandom.

I will also say, this is the first time my wife and I truly felt out of touch and "old" with not understanding many of these memes. Surreal and humbling, and I work in an entertainment-adjacent industry

Overall, 2/10 movie, 8/10 experience lol

My 15-year old son went with his pals on Friday and enjoyed the fan service but thought the movie was stupid. He had a ball with his friends enjoying a movie about the video game he has been playing for half his life.

My 16-year old daughter went last night and came home so pissed off about how bad it was that we got a 10:30 pm hallway debrief, and today she showed me a Google doc in her phone where she has written out a whole 2-page exegesis of her issues with the movie.

How these two kids are from the same Genetics I will never know.
Sounds like she would be a good fit for this board. Has she seen The Last Jedi?

This movie reminded me so much of my parents taking me to go see the first TMNT movie when I was in 5th grade. My son is also in 5th grade, and I think the anticipation we both had for the two movies were very similar.

We took 3 of our grandchildren (ages 3-11), and they loved it. The 3 year old was transfixed and wouldn't even look away to find his M&M's. The movie was pretty funny too so not as horrible as we feared. We bought our tickets early because the theater was filling up fast last Saturday, even through its on several screens with 20 showings. If your Littles are into Minecraft, you must take them. It's an experience.

"Chicken Chunky"...That's the kind of misinterpretation that lands me on the couch in the proverbial dog house.

Finally saw it tonight with some friends and their kids. I played a little Minecraft back in the day so I appreciated all of the details and references they worked in. I think the makers of this played it very smart by going the goofy, over the top route. Listening to the middle and high school kids in my theater saying lines and singing along with songs they'd already learned, it drove home the point that in all of its ridiculousness it gave its core audience exactly what they wanted. I'd wager that even kids who've barely played or haven't played in years ended up going just to be part of the zeitgeist. It was just fun. Exact opposite course of what Disney and Disney LF has been doing -- know the psychology of your audience and give them exactly what they want. Chicken jockey.
