Holy **** this looks awesome
I had the same thought. That Wildcat pilot didn't stand a chance.jeffk said:
Shooting down WWII planes with a space ship doesn't seem really sporting to me.
So a little more context here, what you're referring to is that they're animating on 2s, i.e. each "drawing" is held for 2 frames. This is how traditional animation was often done in the past, it's more noticeable on stop motion animation but in both cases it originated from cost and time savings (you're only using 12 frames or poses per second rather than 24).Fenrir said:
The one downside to the new Spiderverse movies is that now others are trying to emulate the herky jerky look and doing it poorly. It looked pretty good in Spiderverse and Puss n Boots, but here it just felt like a low FPS game.
If I remember right in that scene where he was learning to swing, he was on 2s but Peter was on 1s, further pushing the appearance you're referring to.fig96 said:So a little more context here, what you're referring to is that they're animating on 2s, i.e. each "drawing" is held for 2 frames. Spider-Verse is a totally unique case because they were insanely smart about how they used it. In the early scenes where Miles is learning to swing he's animated on 2s which makes him seem a bit more abrupt and unrefined, while later in the film he's animated on 1s which makes him feel much smoother and in control.
All that to say, this does look to be animated on 2s and I'm not quite sure it's working yet, it's a very clear aesthetic choice but I'll have to see it more in context of the overall film to understand why they're doing it and fairly pass judgement on it.
But either way, this looks totally badass and as a Predator fan I'm SO in.
Bout time we got some background/origin story on the Predators! The Original Houston 1836 said:

An alien skull resembling one from 'Independence Day' also seemingly appears — a franchise now owned by Disney pic.twitter.com/MLQ4bZ6LLn
Trachtenberg gets it — other franchises, take note! That’s exactly what Terminator should be doing. pic.twitter.com/KMifY0h4zq

Did Trachtenberg make a deal that gave him the influence to take over the Predator franchise or has it just kind of worked out that way? Because he's gone from relatively obscurity to driving some big budget name projects pretty quickly (with hints at crossing over with a bigger franchise as well).TCTTS said:Trachtenberg gets it — other franchises, take note! The best critically-reviewed animated film of 2025 through the first half of the year is 'Predator: Killer of Killers.'

That is fascinating. Thanks for posting that.fig96 said:So a little more context here, what you're referring to is that they're animating on 2s, i.e. each "drawing" is held for 2 frames. Watching now. Can you lay them out with spoiler tags? Not sure if you mean they are self contained in this movie, or Easter eggs from the franchise
