Or at least you think they do.

Mine is Feelin' Good Again by Robert Earl Keen

To me it's walking into heaven and seeing all your old friends and then the love of your life.

Before the Next Tear Drop Falls could be about a dad and his daughter. He gives his blessing about her BF/husband but lets her know he will always be there.

That's a pretty common interpretation of the song, although it's just about him hanging out in a bar down the street after getting in late from a tour. Great song though.

Megadeth - Hangar 18

I've always thought of it as any kind of situation where you've gone behind the scenes at a company or business and observed the secret sauce - first hand. And in doing so, figured out that the story they're selling to the public is not really what's happening behind the curtain.

Especially the line - "Possibly I've seen too much, Hangar 18, I know too much"

Because once you know about the fraud being perpetrated, you're sworn to secrecy or subject to being killed (or at least fired from your job).

I've seen this many times in software applications where promises are made based on the user interface but the underlying processed and services can't possibly deliver on expectations.

Found Out About You - Gin Blossoms

High school girlfriend, good times. Still a great record.

Rush "Halo Effect"

The first time I heard it, I broke down in tears. It felt like Neil Peart wrote the lyrics about me and my ex-wife.

Maybe this is just wishful thinking...hoping it's not an extremely blasphemous song trashing Jesus...but I always pretend "Eulogy" by Tool is about L Ron Hubbard or some other fictional cult leader/snake oil salesman.

"Forever" by Chris Brown that was in that viral wedding video and then in the Jim/Pam wedding episode.

That show was the last thing I watched before finding out a friend had killed himself. That song and that episode of the Office are sort of a barrier for me of when things made sense and when they didn't.

Heavy

Kind of similar to that, I had just discovered "Turtles All The Way Down" by Sturgill Simpson in early 2015, and it was a playful/happy little tune to me that I couldn't get enough of...fast fwd a few nights and my wife of 2 yrs is in ICU fighting for her life after a bad accident and I have no clue whether she'll make it or not. That song kept playing in my head and almost would not let me sleep that first night...it took on a more haunting distorted sound in my head, like something you'd see in a movie. I would dose off and wake up to it ringing in my head.

For the longest time, I simply could not listen to it...if a buddy played it on the golf course or a hunting trip, I would have to just zone out and ignore it...bc there was a good chance I could burst into tears.

I was golfing with some friends the other day and it came on a playlist and I am finally able to enjoy it again. I have never experienced that phenomenon with any other song...at least not to that degree.

I always imagined Keith Whitley's "Don't Close Your Eyes" as being written by a stalker.

Always On My Mind
- Willie Nelson

One of the most emotional songs ever written and one of my favorites that I'd heard literally hundreds of times for 30 years.

But when I heard that song from the perspective of a neglected & abused dog that had always been the most loyal and caring pet imaginable, yet had been abandoned by the owner anyway...it took on a whole new meaning.

This song always meant a lot to me, but I will never listen to this song again without tearing up. I'm a grown man. I'm not an emotional person. But this one messes me up every time now.

I challenge any of you to listen to this song from the perspective of a good, loyal dog getting abandoned by a piece of s### and not seeing the song in a whole new light.

By the way, if you are in the mood to ruin your day, feel free to watch this ASPCA video with "Always on My Mind" plaing in the background.
