I agree it makes no sense for him to try and make a living as a thief, but maybe they set up season 2 where he needs to do a couple "jobs" to get his firm rolling or to get back at the art dealer.

The danger of getting caught by the law loses its luster a bit when he was already arrested and potentially facing life in jail for a murder in Season One. I'm in for S2 but feel this could have been wrapped up in a single season. Hope to get proven wrong as I like this show.

They're apparently gonna go there.
Quote:

"The joy of Season 2 is we can explore Sam independent of Coop and give her a new storyline," creator Jonathan Tropper says. "What she's done is something far more opaque and far more complicated to process. And it's not just complicated for her to process, it's complicated for the neighborhood to process. For her, a lot of Season 2 is, a kind of awakening of, 'It's not yours if you can't keep it.' And so it's how does she deal with the public scrutiny? How does she deal with reinventing herself in this community? And how does she deal with the emotional fallout of what she's been through?"

We're already checking our suspension of disbelief at the door on this show. As I said previously, whatever they go with to bring her back will be nonsensical.

This is Days of Our Lives with a high-end budget.

Just binged it over the last week or so. I enjoyed it. Fast paced, and I was never bored. The main characters were written with good depth, if an odd choice in writing here and there. Will be interested to see if they can take season 2 in a believable direction.

some of yall need every show to be Severance or GOT level of writing to enjoy it.

that show was awesome. Hot people, theft, violence, mystery, comedy. Very entertaining. loved it.

You can enjoy watching trash TV, while still commenting on why it made bad writing decisions that should have simply been better.

Lord knows I don't hold Game of Thrones up as a pinnacle of well written TV.

And I've watched enough episodes of Days of our Lives to know this matches that quality of writing.

Nothing wrong with saying "that entertained me for an hour but was still stupid.

I really liked it, but I don't think I would've made it past 2 episodes if Hamm wasn't at the helm. He's just awesome.

Barney was a solid character. I actually warmed up to Amanda Peet, but I've always disliked her since Saving Silverman (Judith escaped!). Maid was super hot and a good character but the brother storyline was dumb. The detective was super poorly written.

This show is great, the writing is also great. Not the plot or the characters but commentary on white collar and consumerism. Some of it is on the nose and some it is subtle.

The guys at the funeral talking about the loss of value in the house at the friend's funeral was hilarious.

When does the show hit its stride? The first episode was ok, but currently only have a 3 mos apple tv preview and deciding on subscribing or not based on the crop of shows....seen a few episodes of several acclaimed shows (lasso, studio, severance, monarch) maybe kick hulu to the curb

If you don't like it by the first 1-2 episodes you're probably not going to like it.

I timed it just right by starting this on Sunday. I have two episodes to go. I don't have anything in the queue right now, so it's great that season 2 starts tomorrow. Really enjoying what it is so far.

I personally really enjoy AppleTV, not the quantity of other streamers but great quality.

Add Shrinking, Pluribus, Stick, Slow Horses, and Silo to your list.

Amanda peet looks like she was hauled in off the streets after years of doing meth.

Surely this show could have found a better actress that still looks natural and is better than Amanda "the Meth Goblin" Peet.

The son is the worst fictional child of the lead I've seen since Dana Brody.

Love the show, but agree that I'm having a hard time with Amanda Peet.

This most recent episode was a pretty big downer.

I just gave up on this show halfway through episode 2

so not only is it morally degenerate- at least in season 1 Coop "had no choice" but to steal temporarily to save himself.

in season two Coop LITERALLY could have gone back to being a multi-millionaire legitimate executive but chose instead to keep robbing people.

the daughter is not only ugly on the exterior but is the worst kind of spoiled garbage in her harangue against princeton.

this show was clearly being written by degenerate socialists who write incredibly awful dialogue.

and they repeat themselves CONSTANTLY

and the Korean Choi who has a hot wife and cool kids RISKS ALL OF THAT TO BECOME A CRIMINAL and rob from their friends.

yeah- that sounds realistic.

I even said this in season 1 that as much as Amanda Peet was a good actress 20 years ago

she is woefully miscast.

as if John F-ing Hamm who is banging this:

is going to want to get back with the old ex wife and mother to two college kids (yes I know supposedly the beta son is still in high school)

and if that ex wife who looks to be 50 somehow is the partner of a FAMOUS NBA STAR

so much ridiculousness in this show.

One of the most underwhelming penultimate episodes I've seen in a while, where I don't think I bought a single choice any character made, save for the daughter finally leaving her boyfriend. No one else's actions made any damn sense. Nick and Coop hanging out? Barney then randomly joining and all of them going out - and going out big - literally the night after Coop was arrested for a high-profile MURDER? Just so baffling. Combined with Mel and Sam getting into a literal fist fight in public, it all just felt so blatantly manufactured, yet also like a bunch of filler, seeing as nothing of consequence really happened. I'm sure the finale will be better, and it seems obvious now where at least part of the plot is going (Coop's old hedge fun bros basically spelled it out), but man this is such a weirdly paced/structured show.

100% on point- and this was stated for season 1 which is much better than season 2.

I'm out!
