I grew up near Hico so I was always interested in the Brushy Bill legend but never gave it a serious look.
I dug into that, very compelling and strong evidence both ways.
The similar appearance & some testimonies point to Brushy Bill=Billy the Kid.

But Brushy Bill was illiterate & spoke only English. Billy TK read & wrote English and was fluent in Spanish.

I'm also a little bit leery that someone could just change who they are on the spot, adopt a new life, not kill anymore for a long time, not get identified by anyone that knew them (even while remaining in the same general area for a bit), etc.

I think there were probably some similarities between the two but I've got my doubts on him being Billy. Didn't he also claim to be someone else at some point? Or am I getting my stories mixed up?

Read the book I posted earlier. The guy's story seems larger than life, but there were so many corroborating details, that he couldn't have possibly looked up to fabricate before internet, that I was pretty convinced.

I personally don't believe BBR could be BTK, there is a 20 year age difference between the originally accepted age for Roberts and the age BTK would have been in 1948. 20 years is a major age gap, if you were creating a new identity to hide out from the law you wouldn't change your age by 20 years. Also BBR's niece claims Roberts' birthdate was recorded in the Roberts Family bible with all of the other relatives. The history of BTK's family life is known, he was an orphan at 14 after his mom died of Tuberculosis and his stepdad booted him out. For BBR's story to be true he would have had to create an entirely new identity and have a family take him into the fold as one of their own and keep the secret with them for almost 70 years, not likely IMO.

BBR died a few years after making the claim to be BTK and I would think it would be pretty evident if he died as a 71 year old man (known age of BBR) or a 90 year old as he would have been if he was truly BTK. 20 years is a major difference.

As for YG3, 30 years or so after the second film would put them around 1910-1915 so I wouldn't be surprised to see them end up fighting Pancho Villa or maybe have some run ins with the Texas Rangers

If Christian Slater is in it, I'm not sure they can go much past the end of YG2 timeline since his character got killed soon after right? Same with Chavez.

I guess flashbacks could be involved…

It's going to be interesting to see where they go with the actors all being 35+ years older and most of the characters dead in the movie realm.

LDP has said we wil see characters that were previously thought dead after the first few films. Chavez y Chavez doesn't die onscreen his death is alluded to when the spirit animal appears but he obviously will be back. Also Alan Ruck's character William French survived. The real Doc Spurlock (Sutherland's character) lived to 1929 but not sure they can bring him back because he was shot all to hell in the first movie.

Here is the quote from LDP " those of us whose deaths were off camera get to come back.".

Nice! One of the greatest two film runs in the 90's. We wore those movies out in college.

Unsure of the accuracy of this, but in case it's true:

Quote:

Thirty years after the infamous Lincoln County shootout, the outlaw legend Billy the Kid is revealed to have faked his own deathand Young Guns 3 plunges him straight into history as he joins Pancho Villa's ranks amid the 19101920 Mexican Revolution. Reunited with Chavez y Chavez and Arkansas Dave, he swaps dusty New Mexico plains for Villa's guerilla war, proving some rebels never truly ride off into the sunset.

Behind the scenes, Emilio Estevez has spearheaded the project with writer John Fusco since 2019, finally securing New Mexico tax credits to begin filming this fall. Estevez returns as both star and director, with original cast members Lou Diamond Phillips and Christian Slater slated to reprise their roles, rekindling the Brat Pack spirit on the same rugged backdrops that launched the franchise in 1988.

Fans have long speculated on Brushy Bill Roberts' claims, and this sequel capitalizes on that mysteryblurring fact and legend as Billy carves a new chapter in outlaw lore. With the script under wraps until now, anticipation is riding high to see how this chapter reconciles history with Hollywood bravado.

Dear Governor Axtell. I've heard that you will give 200 dollars for my head. Perhaps we should meet and talk. I am at the Juarez village at the border. Send 3 men, and instruct them not to shoot, as I am unarmed. In short, Sir; I surrender. Your obedient servant William H. Bonney. PS: I changed my mind. Kiss my ass."
