Strange that they did not name natural causes in the death as Coulam was really old. After watching the documentary on George and the Circus around his attempted sale of the Texas Ren Festival I believe he was certifiably insane.

It has been a decade since I have been but used to go every year and had lots of good times at the Festival despite leaving penniless every time. Hopefully the new owners won't turn it into a stale Corporate tourist trap.

If you haven't watched the documentary "Ren Faire" I would recommend it if you are a fan of the Texas Ren Fest and are interested in the personalities behind the curtains.

Ex-Inlaws lived out in that area and saw George around fairly often. They said he stayed in "King" Character full time.

Not that strange when there are apparent gunshot wounds.

Yeah. Based on the way the article is written, I assume he killed himself.

It was already a tourist trap, anyway. Maybe not stale, but a tourist trap, none-the-less.

Now it will be a tourist trap brought to you by the makers of Ozempic, for all your weight loss needs.

And by Anheiser Busch, After a hard day of jousting, this Buds for you.

And by McDonalds, you deserve a break today.

And by the new Honda Crosstour, for hauling all of your little jousters to the tournament.

And by Subway, why bother with a Turkey Leg when you can get a delicious Turkey club sandwich.....

Not sure about that. We are tentatively confident about the new owners. I haven't spoken with many vendors yet, but small sample size (previous to this situation) is that hopefully new owners will be a net positive.

First time I went to Ren Fest I was about 19 and a broke College Student so had maybe $20 in total on me when we got there. Walked around for hours with friends spending a bit here or there and by the time we went to get food I had about $6 left just enough for some nachos. I saw all kinds of dudes stuffing cash into the bosoms of the food Wenches so when it was my time to pay I had my $6 rolled up like Rico Suave and stuffed it right in between the girls bodacious tatas and she says " Thank you me Lord" and winks and I nod and walk off and she chases me down for the $6 for the nachos. I'm like " I already gave it to you" and she says no that was my tip.

I did what any broke teenager would do, turned red and shrugged my shoulders and mumbled through an apology about being broke and the misunderstanding. Yeah I was pretty smooth back then.
