yeah, it really went off the rails at the end.
Agreed - awful finale
Show was funnier than I thought it would be when my wife put it on. The ending was the absolute easiest way out and not what I would have expected. Pretty lame.
We watched it and it was good enough, but yea then the ending just sucked. We both looked at each other and were like , "that's it?"

Meghann Fahy was awesome in this, but the plot was meh? pointless? directionless?
On top of that every plot twist just got dumber and dumber.

Jose was the best character in the show. Also, I can't see Glenn howerton and not see Dennis. It's literally impossible.
The buildup was really good ... like a slightly less intense "White Lotus" with fewer lingering shots of scenery. There were so many loose threads that could have been interesting to explore.
But that last episode just cratered. It's like they just gave up. Kevin Bacon could have at least danced a little.

I was convinced based on the trailer that this was going to be some sort of supernatural cult storyline. It turned out to be a mildly comedic soap opera sponsored by Lilly Pulitzer.

I ended up watching this with my wife. In addition to the bad ending I felt that the actress playing Simone made it a not believable character, plus the way she looked, especially in the first couple of episodes, I kept waiting for her to come running in and warn everyone the sleestak was coming.
I kinda half watched this as my wife had it on then the ending…yeah.
I'll spoiler tag this in case anyone cares (you shouldn't) but billionaire tech dude just swaps out his socialite status wife with a cultlike following for a new 25 year old girlfriend IN THE MIDDLE OF A PARTY and everyone just continues on like nothing has happened. Wtf?

Agreed that was over the top, but they were trying to illustrate how vapid and shallow all the hangers on were.
Didn't matter who he had on his arm, as long as the bar stayed open.
I have to think that twist was fleshed out better in the book, because it definitely didn't work in the show.

Show had a great cast and fortunately was only a few episodes
If it had been 10 episodes and ended the same, I'd be pissed on how much time I wasted.

Fair, it might have been at least slightly more gradual in the book. Because for whatever point it was trying to make, that would still be a pretty scandalous/sudden thing for people to not even notice.

What a disappointment. Completely different show than I thought it would be.
I was still pretty entertained throughout most of it, but the ending just completely ruined it.
