I'm watching this right now. Man, that must have suuuucked. It's streaming on Netflix. It's about the Carnival Triumph that was stuck out at sea with no power (or working toilets).

The chef talking about how the poop on the toilet was layered like "poop lasagna" was the chefs kiss.

How would anyone be able to tell the difference between that cruise and a normal Carnival cruise?

Is this the same series that did the one about Woodstock 99?

That one was very well done...I hate ****ty documentaries, but I'll probably check this one out tonight.

The only ones who were profiled that I felt badly for were the 12 yo girl and her dad. The others were classic Carnival fare

The one on Travis Scott's Astroworld concert was a good watch as well

I actually started that one and stopped halfway to go to sleep. Should start it up again. After the poop cruise episode it threw us on to the Rob Ford Mayor of Mayhem show.

I took a cruise 20+ years ago and it was my first and last. It is not for me. So many people love cruising but not for me, for sure. I don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with thousands of people for days at a time.

Never been on a cruise but I watched this documentary with my wife and it looked like I imagine any Carnival cruise going. My favorite part was when the other ship for Carnival showed up and people thought that was their way out only to be disappointed not just that they couldn't leave but also that all the guests on the other ship just took pictures of them and continued partying.

Watching this show confirmed for me that the decision to never set foot on a cruise liner in my life was a good one!

We did the cruise thing when I was younger. Now that I'm older I get asked if I'd ever want to go on one and I get anxiety just thinking about it. I have no desire to get on something I'd basically be trapped on if things go wrong.

I read / hear about cruise ships and I think of this... why anyone would want to be stuck on a floating 6+ floor motel is a mystery.

Looks to be a prison, not a holiday/vacation.

I think I read it on the Travel board numerous years ago, but someone called cruises the "Wal-Mart of vacations" and I've never wanted to step on one since.

I saw the thread title and thought this was announcing the sequel to the Amy Schumer- Bill Hader movie from a few years ago.

We had a friend from the neighborhood stuck on this thing lol. It was a "girls trip" with a few of her friends. She was the reluctant "not really a cruise person but I'll roll with it" type. The description of the horror she saw and smelled still sticks with me. We've never been on a cruise and never will

lol. That is awesome.

The only way I set foot on a cruise is if it's a small boat that is so expensive that your normal human can't afford to do it. No kids allowed.

And even then I would have to be convinced or possibly kidnapped to go do it.

I'm not really a cruise person. Been on 4 in my lifetime. Twice on one of the Mexican/Caribbean ones (18 yrs old after high school and 33 as a honeymoon gift from the FIL) and I don't need to do that ever again.

However, the seven day Alaskan cruise out of Seattle is one of, if not the best, trip I've been on. It's a completely different experience than what most associate cruises with. Older crowd, extremely laid back, 90% of the time within eyeshot of land. Super unique excursions and experiences. We loved it so much we did it again about 5 years later. It's not cheap, but that eliminates some of the riff raff you'd find on a Carnival cruise.

I can't recommend it enough.

I had two co-workers on this cruise for one of their bachelorette party. They were sick in there for a week. I remember them saying that sewage eventually got in the halls and their room

I mean how are people not making the executive decision to dump over the side rail pretty early once it's clear the ships "containment" is nearing capacity?

Sorry ocean.

It seems like some modified porta-potties that could be set up against the deck railing with poop shoots out the bottom to direct the stuff overboard should be standard emergency equipment. Go minimalist "toilet only" on design and just have some privacy screens to conserve storage space, and you're all set. Putting 2000 people on ships where a power outage takes your ability to handle urine and feces and no real backup plan is asking for what happened here. And having men pee over the railing or a trough to send it overboard should be a no brainer.

We had some friends just go on one of those with their three kids, all elementary school age, and they enjoyed it. My biggest hang up on cruises is I don't want to be trapped on a boat in the middle of the ocean, I know that's irrational but my head always goes there. Granted the Alaskan ones I think stay close to the shore so you have the view for the entire trip. In my head it's like being in a hotel you can't leave. I know my wife wants to go on one with our daughter. I'll probably cave at some point to that idea but I don't think our 9 year old is old enough to get the full enjoyment of it quite yet, but I could be wrong on that assumption.

My "i'm just not a cruiser" assessment was validated when I saw the videos before anything bad even happened and my anxiety level about the number of people goes off.

The only cruise I want to go on is a European River Cruise. But you're not out in the middle of the ocean.

There were three women that were a big part of the doc who had gone on the cruise for one of the girl's bachelorette party. Wonder if she was part of that group?

Watched the Astroworld one last night. That one was a tough watch. Very sad what happened to a bunch of kids just there to have a good time. Concert organizers completely ignored all the paramedics giving CPR around the stage and kept the concert going. Part of the crowd was even chanting "stop the show" over and over. Couple of young people even managed to get up on one of the camera stands and pleaded for them to stop the show. Very, very sad.

Poop Cruise really takes you there.

100% humidity below decks.

Smell of raw sewage.

Being hungover sleeping on a mattress you drug out on deck.

Hearing the crazy lady come on the 1MC every few minutes and startle you awake.

The rage of having another Carnival ship do a fly-by to check on you and seeing the other passengers partying and twerking at you.

One of the victims was an Aggie and in my class and department. I was an older guy when I went to TAMU and had done a bit of living and suffering already but to go through Silver Taps for someone you know and so young hits harder. At least for me. She was the second one actually for me. Didn't make it easier at all.

Whole thing was such a tragedy. Crowd control and crush injuries are something you'd think we'd have a handle on in our day and age…

These can also go awry. My parents did a Viking river cruise a few years ago and the damn river went dry. They had to get off the boat more than once and connect to a new boat further down river via overland van.

We've gone on two Disney cruises and had a great time on both. I feel like Disney has their **** together more than Carnival does, though.
