episode 2 is some crazy ****

Well wife and I made it through first 4 episodes. Finish up tomorrow. Should be exciting.

Episode two was just an insane hour of emotions. I'm still processing what happened.

First two episodes were all gas and no brakes!! On the third now

Did this just come out? I feel like part two just released a few months ago.

Yea I mean they didn't even finish the games in season two I am just surprised it is already out. Usually it's all over Netflix that is is coming soon but I didn't see anything. Will watch this week.

Finished it last night with the wife. Just really well done. One of the best Netflix series. The best and worst in humanity, redemption, those you hope for redemption showing their true evil, everything.

Episode 2 was this season's marbles episode.

I thought the finale was as emotionally satisfying as could've been expected after episode 2.

I did have a few issues with the season overall.

I thought there was a lot of plot contrivances that depended on people acting dumb. For instance, why the hell would they let 11 and 246 drive the boat off the island when they had every opportunity to shoot them both before getting anywhere near the boat?

Similarly, the main officer just letting her crawl to the elevator toward the gun like an idiot. A bit of plot armor there.

Finally, the entire last game was one contrivance after another. It felt like the outcome was decided (the baby winning) and then everything was written backwards from there. Just awfully convenient it depended on a button not being pressed by anyone, and 333 idiotically killing 100 before getting to the final platform.

But with all those issues aside, I liked how everything wrapped up.

Although I have zero interest in American Squid Game and that final scene could've been left out. And I forgot to mention the VIP actors were once again complete dog*****

Just finished and I'm excited to see what they do with the spinoff series they have planned. The 1984 especially has me interested.

Also I did not expect Cate Blanchett at the end of episode 6

It sounds me to me like they're all dubbed over, too. It's super weird.

I'm all in on America Squid Game, and hopefully Gi Hun 456's daughter will be a contestant.

Agree about the VIPs. They were ****ing awful. They did weirdly sound dubbed over.

That's the only way my husband and I could describe it too. Their lips were matching the words we were hearing, but it was like someone else was saying the words. It was so weird and I don't know why it's like that. There's no depth to anything they're saying.

At the very least I wanted the VIPs to die in the fire, if not gunned down by the cop. He ended up being entirely irrelevant in the end, I guess other than rescuing the dad. Pretty minimal impact though.

Watched it, enjoyed it, glad it's over.

BTW, a show that follows a somewhat similar concept but executes much better IMO is Alice in Borderland. I read it has a 3rd season dropping in September.

I guess the final resolution of the cop's story arc was supposed to be getting the money and the baby, but the payoff for him finally reaching the island too late to do anything felt pretty anticlimactic.

Alice in Borderlands is awesome. Was honestly shocked it stayed as honest to the source material as it did also.

AIB is so much fun. I really liked the first season on SG but this one isn't all that interesting to me. Alice gets pretty crazy but it is a really entertaining show

I think they are supposed to be caricatures or something because there is no reason to have this amazing show with such terrible actors in those roles specifically. The voice track always seems off as well. It's a real bummer because they are so bad it completely takes you out of it.

Entertaining but I pretty much thought the ending was terrible. Giving him the knife and he decides to spare everyone because he has a belief in the good of people only for every single person to prove that wrong? Even the father of the baby. Don't introduce that plot point if literally no one is redeemed. Basically every step of the way the main character watched greed win out over morality. No one learned a lesson, nothing changed. Maybe it got to the front man some with his actions with the baby/daughter at the end but it's not like we know whether he will quit doing it or not.

Also no resolution on literally any of the rich elite behind it, not even some minor satisfaction on that. This is one of my beefs with the John Wick movies is they never had him move against the High Table just turned into more of a generic lieutenant of the week type of feel. Give us the satisfaction of taking down a big player that crumbles the system a bit.

I suspect the VIPs are so bad because the show is made by Koreans for Koreans, and as such, there aren't many native English speakers involved in the production. I think if you're not a native speaker, it's harder to both write good English dialogue and cast good actors. Even though you may understand the words, you don't get the nuances of English. I bet Koreans probably complain about Korean dialogue in American movies, although it's probably not as bad because good Korean actors will come to America to try and break out in Hollywood. I doubt any good American actors are trying to break out in Korean cinema... Except maybe Cate Blanchett.

Cate Blanchett seems like such a big name for the American spinoff. Were the actors in the Korean version a-list for Korea?

I finished all 3 seasons. I enjoyed it, but I am glad it's over.

This was beyond terrible and really took away from the show. The dialog and writing for them did them no favors
