Love Edgar Wright so excited to see his take on this, looks like it's gonna be a fun ride.

Edgar Wright needs more love in general.

  • Shaun of the Dead
  • Hot Fuzz
  • The World's End
  • Scott Pilgrim vs the World
  • Baby Driver
  • Last Night in Soho

In for him, even if I didn't already love the original one.

And since we're on the topic, here's one of my favorite cinematography videos talking about Edgar Wright and how he shoots comedy…

I would like to suggest Danny McBride as the Killian character. Danny just playing his character from The Gemstones would kill. Maybe just remove a bit of the silliness, but keep the obvious two facedness with a not so well hidden dark side.

Great call, I bet he could go really dark. It's not in the same ballpark, but I always liked the Indian game show host in Slumgdog Millionaire who is so gregarious and over the top, but then he tries to sabotage Mr. Jai Ho in the bathroom with the wrong answer.

Anil Kapoor. Over 100 flicks and a bevy of awards in Bollywood.

He didn't break out like Patel here after Slumdog because he's too old and you can't really expect Americans to learn foreign actors' names even if they like the performance.

He was also great in Mission Impossible 4.

Edgar Wright is currently one of those writer/directors who has earned the benefit of the doubt, imo. I will always give an Edgar Wright film a chance. Scott Pilgrim is a top 20 movie of the last 25 years, and Baby Driver should also be high on that list.

Not to mention Shaun of the Dead (directed by; co-written with Simon Pegg)

Anil Kapoor is a great one.

I highly recommend the Indian version of the TV show "24"

I have tickets to see this on Sunday afternoon. Will report back. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of the Arnold version since it doesn't follow the book much but I am looking forward to this as it seems to follow it more. We shall see.

I saw it Thursday evening. Ran a little long for what it was. Really liked Powell and Brolin. Felt like they tried too hard in some parts. Falls into the good but not great category for me.

Thanks

Sounds like this one can wait for TV viewing.

If you've read the book, it does a great job of following it. I really enjoyed it. If I hadn't, then yeah it's probably just an average and maybe even somewhat heavy handed with it's message. Powell, Brolin and Domingo do a great job and a really good non stop pace from Edgar Wright.

Long story short….if you've read it, go see it. If you haven't, you can probably wait.

Ugh, it will be a slog to sit through this one. I'd rather watch 12 hours of Sudekis doing the Running Man.

Me, too.

Hollywood is sucking. Remakes... who GAS about a book version? Come up with some new ideas, some original content, braintrusts. ****.

Umm…people who read. What's your idea of a new idea? Being down 30-3 coming back and throwing in an irate state trooper? Give me a break.

Saw it tonight with the fam... I liked it. Powell is always entertaining and it had enough fun moments to hold my interest.

But then again, I also liked Tron Ares (which the Internet told me I was supposed to hate) so what do I know.

Couldn't be better timing for me. My boy just turned 13. Loves the 80s flicks so he's seen the Arnold movies and recently the original. Plus he loves Hangman from Top Gun Maverick and even Twisters. Little father son movie.

Unless you guys think my wife and daughter might enjoy also?

Just saw it. That was a good movie and since I hadn't read the book, felt like a fresh take. We actually both liked the story better than the 80s original.
