I did a Jaws rewatch on June 20, the 50th anniversary, but normally Jaws is on my July 4 watch list. Today will likely just be The Patriot and Independence Day.

When Drago arrives in the US, Apollo is in his pool watching TV with a fried chicken commercial on. In case you forgot he was black.

He gets killed, but Apollo has the right of it - can't let those dirty Commies come over and talk s*it to us. Rocky is a wimp about it until Apollo is dead.

When Drago starts pounding Apollo's ass in the exhibition, some of the crowd in Vegas starts chanting Drago's name. Who are these people? They been watching a bunch of Russian amateur boxing on cable TV and now they are fans?

The fact the NASA astronauts even consider letting one of the roughnecks stay behind and detonate the bomb is really hilarious. Not only for the duty of it all, but just assuming Harry will do a perfectly good job.

How long after they land after they destroy the asteroid do they have Peter Stromare spilling his guts about Russia's space program or getting tortured?

There is zero chance that some other country wouldn't launch fighters and missiles at the ships before the US does its little song and dance Close Encounters helicopter bit. The first two sightings are over Russia and Iraq in 1996 - those 2 nutjobs would have been launching everything they had.

Will Smith about to become the biggest star in the world right here. A three-year run of Bad Boys, ID4, Men in Black. if he had picked the Matrix over Wild Wild West, guy might be president rightnow.

I went into the summer of 1996 all about ID4 after months of hype, and it took me years to admit that The Rock is way much more my favorite movie of that summer.

Movie trivia: Arnold turned down the role of Stanley Goodspeed.
