I searched for other threads containing Paris and Texas in title, even just Paris (damn there were a lot of Paris Hilton posts), but couldn't find this film mentioned elsewhere.

I had heard the film Paris, Texas mentioned by people in various podcasts and it seemed like something to watch - I've had it on a "to watch" list for years because I barely make time to watch things these days. I finally committed to watching it a couple weekends ago.

I found it to be a remarkable film, completely engrossing human story. I hadn't seen a movie like this in a long time, nothing exactly like this really, and it was refreshing. Great story totally based in human realities, maybe not 100% totally realistic but based in human realities and frailties. Just basically a great story that is well acted, good cinematography, good musical score. It was over 2 hours long and somehow felt longer but in a good way. That doesn't even make sense as I type it, but that's what I felt.

No explosions, no violence, no sex. Humans, a humanistic story, dialogue, drama.

I was surprised by it.
