Can I get a few suggestions of the movies that came up during family night (planned or impromptu) and were a hit.
- within the past 3-4 years
- relatively clean
- blockbusters to low budget

I'll start. Out of nowhere put on Gran Tourismo, big time hit at the house.

It was the 80s. We were tougher then.

I remember watching Robocop, total Recall, Predator, the Rambo movies, Terminator etc. Just wasn't a big deal.

Would you show your 8 year old the theatrical release of RoboCop? It doesn't matter what you did then, would you do it now? I think some of y'all have forgotten that it was intially given an X rating.

It provides valuable life sessions - a life of crime will inevitably lead to getting melted by toxic waste (and subsequently exploded by a car) or shot in the dick by a cyborg police officer. Things every child should know.

Can they tolerate older movies that might move a little more slowly than today's films and with no CGI? If so, you could always go old-school Disney live action:

The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes
The Barefoot Executive
The Million Dollar Duck
The Love Bug
That Darn Cat

Pretty sure all or most of those old films are available on Disney+.

Then when your kids are older and they recognize Snake Plissken in "Escape from New York" but can't place him, you can remind them that he was Dexter Riley.
