Stephen Colbert show has already been canceled and he actually leads the time slot. (Hard to believe, but based on the #s it is true). Colbert is not being replaced, show is being canceled.

I enjoyed Fallon when he first took over The Tonight Show. It was fun and light-hearted.

It sounds like he wasn't as wholesome as the image he portrayed, but from a comedy/content standpoint I don't think he started out with the intention of diving into petty political humor. It wasn't until the fallout after he tried to have fun with Trump and touched his hair. Some thought he was being too nice and not serious enough - so after that his monologues changed as did his demeanor. The show was never the same after that.

I think Jimmy always wanted to keep it light and silly, but was forced to alter his approach...which killed his viewership.

Never liked Fallon. His breaking on every single sketch on SNL drove me nuts. I get the intermittent breaking or when they try to make the actor break on purpose like with Bill Hader doing Stefon or with Heidi Gardner and the Beavis and Butthead sketch. But with him it seemed like every single sketch.

Yeah he avoided the standard mean spirited political "jokes" for a long time. It's why we watched his show. It was actually fun with no heavy handed attempts to demonize half the country.

Sadly, Kimmel and Colbert were winning the ratings war by being obnoxious ****** bags. Fallon tried to emulate and we've never watched since.

All three of them have been unfunny trash for years now. Letterman was bad enough toward the end but it's sad to see what late night turned I to when comparing it to the 90s.

Weird. there is no way someone was not recording it if it was broadcast.

Or was this during taping and so they never released it?

I find articles just saying a rift occurred and it got chaotic and they shut down the segment but no details or video.

I mean, you can see what happened here.

She is a professional shtstirrer upper. She tried to stir up some sht, it never got to tape. Then some publicist went and did media triage for her. Which Fallon didn't need to do.

OK.

If something happened, there would be tape.

OP claiming "many people are mad about it"- that's nothing but fake shtsiterruppers.

I think is a matter of time. NBC canceled the Friday episode earlier this year. Agreed that the repercussions of the Trump episode started the slide.

A few years ago, I want to say late stages of the pandemic, the show was randomly on and the wife and I both stopped to watch and both agreed on how awful he looked. He just looked like he was unhappy and running on fumes and honestly sounded like he was drunk and on edibles or something (trust me, I would know).

But what made me kind of sad, as someone who used to like him because he seemed like a good/nice joyful dude, was that he just seemed hollowed out or something...like he was just faking happiness. Hard to explain. Hopefully I was wrong.

Still no one has said what happened with Fallon and this WNBA player? Was she on his show and they got into an argument?

Odd to act like this is going to be some sort of undoing for him. 99.99% of the population has never heard of this Sophie Cunningham

When he first took over the Tonight Show I really enjoyed it. Very fun and silly. Plus the Roots! But I haven't watched in years. I didn't realize he had pivoted to political and nastiness. A shame if true.
