I'm just saying if two very sharp satirical comedians can't have a field day with Biden-Harris and the crazy DEI mob around them, they've either lost their mojo or they have a reason they won't go there.

Either way, that whole "they do this to both sides" thing is a myth and has been for a while.

I've made that point a couple times, agree or disagree but I'm going to let it go so the thread doesn't get clogged further with BS.

South Park slowly ceased being equal opportunity offenders around 2017. They still put out entertaining content. In my opinion they went too hard trying to hit the mark in episode 1 of this season, but it was probably half the country's favorite episode of all time because - yeah, we got Trump.

That said, the recent show got a few laughs out of me. There are also those who can take a joke and those who can't. Vance made a comment that he finally made it (or something like that) and Kirk seemed to love the characterization - even made comments on how dead on it was (setting down his mic while others talked, constantly drinking water, accurately quoting scripture from Jeremiah, even some of Clyde's responses).

Just a thought but can we keep this thread for laughing at the show and use the F16 one for all the other stuff ?

Biden was just an old and boring zombie moron who let things fall apart. Trump is actively spouting off pure nonsense every chance he gets. He literally says mind boggling inaccurate dumb **** every single day. He has and always will be the easier target because of his outlandish nature not because of his political ideology.

Sounds like the MAGAs are expecting some equality and inclusion of the other party in their animated comedies. The Trump jokes feel like low hanging fruit, but the Noem and Vance stuff killed me.

Well, my point was that saying they satirize both sides just isn't accurate. I think some of their recent stuff is funny and clever, but they are Dem establishment guys. They'd have been run off a long time ago if they weren't.

Did you forget about Turd Sandwich debating Giant ****** ?

Dude, you are proving Cliff's point with this example. That episode was 21 freaking years ago. Would pick something relevant to your point. I assume there are some.

I've always loved SP although I haven't watched it regularly in about that same length of time.

I read that Noem made some kind of public statement whining about the episode which is about the dumbest damn thing she could have ever done. If she said anything, she should have said "I thought it was pretty funny" and left it at that. Idiot. I'm going to assume they will ratchet up their castigation of her by 1000% now.

Yep. Vance joked about being in the episode. That's what you do.

Just because I saw someone mention it above, Issac Hayes' (voice actor of Chef) son recently implied that he never would have quit the show, but after having a stroke the Scientologists basically started controlling his career for him. Very sad if true.

I had heard a big part of the reason for them not producing as much content in the last few years was the insane amount of time they were spending with the Book Of Mormon show getting so popular across the world. Major world events obviously contributed as well.

That's not the theory. He's apparently really tight with them and Hunter is one of his best friends. So they did him a solid by leaving Hunter alone. May be true. May not. Just one potential explanation.

Theyve been good and I'm a conservative. However if it's just a full season of Trump bashing and no broad social commentary then I'm out. That's just a rehash of what everyone else has done.

Have always loved this show and they have historically bashed everyone. But for guys that were saying as recently as last fall that Trump storylines were tired, it would be odd if this season ends up Trump Tegridy Farms. Also, the Bidens did get off easy. There was a mountain of unmined gold there. I'm fine with what they did, but it's ok to acknowledge that.

How many jokes can you make about Biden being old? Trump is on truth social trolling everyday.

Dementia, kid sniffing, pants ****ting, coke-addled hoaring son, coke in the white house, rep for getting naked in front of his female agents, a self-acknowledged habit of getting weirdly close and handsy and sniffy with women. And that's barely scratching the surface. A lot more there than just "old"

I did but there was still have a heavy dose of politics. Societal satire and politcal satire are two distinct things and they don't often have to be intertwined, and South Park has done a masterful job of often keeping them separate for 25 years for the most part. But again, if every episode has to be some cheap mockery of Trump or the right then it's no different than what others have done. Not interested in have all of my entertainment **** stained with a political angle, especially if it's completely one sided .

Episode one was literally about the end of woke…they've made fun of both sides since the beginning. Because both sides can act comically stupid!!

Please. I'm literally on F16 defending South Park. But that's because they've always been able to deal **** out equally. I consider it extremely lazy to just make fun of one side and go the well on Trump over and over. There's plenty to make fun of Trump over. But it's been done. By everyone.

I'm getting burned out on the Trump stuff. It was funny the first two episodes but it's getting boring now. (I did think the "occupied" DC tourism scenes were funny though)

Also, no Cartman.

There's a purpose to satire and comedy beyond "going after both sides," particularly if you find one side far more dangerous.

Honestly a bit disappointed with the season… it's had its moments but meh.

the political stuff doesn't bother me at all and I think they should target whatever is funny with their social commentary.

But when you look at this season vs. classic stuff like season 8 (one of the funniest seasons of TV ever)…. It's just fallen off. Like… a very well known public figure having relations with Satan is funny ish for a minute but then that becomes the entire trope of the season? Definitely agree with some above saying it feels like Tegridy all over again.
