If you recall.....what are the first 10 or so albums you owned??
Probably hard for kids and young adults today to relate but back in the day when you got your first stereo and got your first albums on your own - not your parents - it was huge. Talking about actual vinyl albums here (or cassette if that was your thing)_.
For me I got my first stereo with turntable, radio, and cassette player/recorder at Christmas 1978. Emerson brand all in one unit (not components). Something like this:

My first purchases in 1978-79 were kind of all over the place I suppose. But I still remember them. For most of these albums I listened to them all the way through many times.
The Wall - Pink Floyd
The Long Run - The Eagles
The Cars - debut album
Tom Petty - Damn The Torpedos
Red and Blue compilation albums - The Beatles
Off The Wall - Michael Jackson
C'est Chic - Chic
Parallel Lines - Blondie
Van Halen II - Van Halen
Pieces of Eight - Styx
Another early album purchase was John Lennon's Double Fantasy after his murder in December 1980. The first celebrity death that really hit me as I had just gotten into The Beatles. I mentioned in another thread today (my Beatles US discography post) that it was a tough listen with the interspersed Yoko Ono tracks and I think I only ever listened to it once.
Note: Yes, as a drummer, I was already into Rush but I had a buddy that owned all of those albums and we loaned each other albums all the time. So I didn't buy those older Rush albums. The first one I bought was Moving Pictures in 1981.
Those were the last Blondie and Chic albums I ever bought as I definitely went more rock, classic rock and prog rock after that.
My older sister never had a stereo (mostly a guy thing then) and she had some garbage records she played on our parent's system. Grease and Saturday Night Fever soundtracks plus a few K-Tel compilations of garbage top 40 songs.
