That actor was a much younger Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) from Breaking Bad.

He was in gremlins too, as the cop.

Walton Goggins was an Air Force gate guard in Forever Young (1992). I had to look that one up. I remember seeing him but could not remember the movie.

Emma Roberts plays Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz's daughter in "Blow".

Jennifer Connelly was in Duran Duran's video for "Union of the Snake"

Robert Duvall is Boo Radley in "To Kill a Mockingbird". I suspect most knew this one already.

Matt Damon was cast as an unknown for Saving Private Ryan...since Spielberg didn't want it to be obvious who he was in the movie.

Good Will Hunting blew up before SPR released and that all went to hell.

This was all 10 years after Mystic Pizza so MD definitely had to grind it out for a while. He had some great roles in School Ties and Chasing Amy during that period, but definitely wasn't a star.

I saw a video where Matt Damon initially auditioned for Saving Private Ryan but didn't get it. Damon mentioned this to Robin Williams while filming Good Will Hunting and Spielberg just happened to be in Boston filming Amistad. Williams called up Spielberg and asked him to lunch and ambushed him by bringing Matt Damon along. Damon was cast shortly after.

Dan Aykroyd was hardly unknown in '84.. this should be filed under 'under the radar cameos'

I don't know if this fits the ops '... very recognizable actors and their first film roles before they became well known.'

That movie is playing locally this weekend for the 35th anniversary, I'd take my daughter but she wouldn't care. She's the same age now I was when I saw it in the theater.

That's where he learned the "quarter blood technique" from Billy Ray Valentine. A technique that would come in handy as he rose through the ranks of the Juarez Cartel.

Looks like they took this scene from Airplane but the Sikh with the gas can and match sitting next to Ted Stryker was funnier.

Helen Hunt in "Desperate Lives" (Made for TV after school special, 1982)

She plays the girl in the video who snorted some angel dust and jumped out a window & freaked the f out.

We had to watch that in 7th grade Health class back in 1988. Our teacher was a coach who didn't give a crap about anything, so we watched it a couple of times a week. He'd let us replay that scene over & over again because us 12-year olds thought that was the funniest scene in the history of cinema. I bet we watched that movie, or at least this part, 100+ times.

I'd been trying to remember that movie's name for years and couldn't. When Mad About You came out, I knew I recognized Helen Hunt but I couldn't think of where I knew her from. And then she hosted SNL and referenced the scene. Yessss! It was Helen Hunt!

How does one fly out a second story window, land flat on your back, then get up and start menacing a crowd?

Angel Dust must be one hell of a drug.

Going WAAAY back - Sid Caesar as a random caveman in "History of the World: Part 1". He had been one of the earliest Hollywood blacklisted actors for at least a decade prior.

Caesar had some alcohol problems that eventually made him unreliable, but I do not believe he was ever blacklisted because of political beliefs.

Do you have a source?
