He was Canadian but served in the US Marines in Vietnam.

We watched the movie every time it came on and my roommates and I would bust out laughing every time in the scene where he rode off on the motorcycle with his middle finger in the air.

Die Hard with a Vengeance wasn't mentioned. He was great in that as well. He was a great actor and better person. So sad to see him go.
