As a kid I caught some clandestine late night viewings on Skinemax of the original Emmanuelle movies. I don't remember much about them outside of the gratuitous sex scenes but my overall impression was plenty of steamy moments built up in the plot. I saw there was a new reboot now streaming on Max so I figured I would give it a shot and see if it lived up to the originals.

What a complete steaming pile of elephant crap of a movie. The lead playing Emmanuelle doesn't manage to come across as sexy and the plot is just absurd. The original Emmanuelle was the bored wife of a French diplomat and of course now they have to make her a HotelierGirl Boss that sleeps with seemingly every dude around her including the bell hop and they do a terrible job explaining why. Absolutely atrocious movie and how the hell did Naomi Watts end up in this pile of crap?

Remember when HBO mailed a guide every month so you could see the broadcast schedule? I would snag it and jot down late night show times for The Hitchhiker. The show was slow and really bad but I would tough it out to catch the 20 seconds of glorious gratuitous secks scene that was in every episode.

There was a brief moment in '96-ish when we were blessed with peak Krista Allen and peak Kari Wuhrer and it was glorious.
