Making for three live-action DCU "Super" movies three summers in a row...

7.11.2025 = Superman
6.26.2026 = Supergirl
7.09.2027 = Man of Tomorrow

... the third of which, according to Gunn, will be "a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat."

And with Gunn's reveal of the script cover earlier today, that "much, much bigger threat" is almost assuredly going to be Brainiac...

As for additional details... numerous characters from both Superman and Supergirl will appear in Man of Tomorrow, filming begins in the spring, and Gunn has officially referred to season two of Peacemaker (currently airing on HBO Max with three episodes left) as "the Man of Tomorrow prequel," meaning there will be some direct connective tissue involved. In other words, we should have a better idea of the plot for Man of Tomorrow here in just a little over two weeks.

It's about freaking time we have Brainiac in a Superman movie. We've had Lex Luthor as the big bad guy in 5 of them (if you include Batman v. Superman as a Superman movie), Zod in 2 of them, and Richard Pryor in one of them. Somehow not even a hint of Brainiac.

I could have pictured him as a good Joker fit for Gunn's DCU. I have a feeling Gunn will go back to the more traditional comic book Joker when he gets there. But Matt Smith is great. Big fan of his since HotD.
