Yep- and doesn't include the times it's been played on the radio just because it's a great song

Almost perfect list of songs, but why include Sammy and skip Van Halen?

Mostly because I have Sammy on the brain since I'm going to his birthday bash in a week in Cabo!

And I figured someone had already added VH.

VH- Runnin with the Devil, Unchained, Hot For Teacher, Right Now, Summer Nights, Cabo Wabo
Pat Benataur- Runnin with the Shadows of the Night, Fire & Ice
Heart- Barracuda

My favorite songs change, but Time by Pink Floyd has reined as my #1 song for at least a decade. Just such an amazing song between the music, lyrics, and guitar solo. It also has a lot of meaning, for me.

These are all songs I could listen to all day long. I guess that makes them the best ever for me.

Comfortably Numb. If you don't have a song with 2 David Gilmour guitar solos on your list you are lost and I can't help you
Angie - Stones.
Hotel Cali - acoustic version from Hell Froze Over
Stairway, When the Levee Breaks - Zep
Night Moves - Bog Seger
Xanadu - Rush. Maybe the live version on ESL
Jessica, Melissa, Blue Sky - Allman Bros
Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac
Foreplay/Long Time - Boston
Let it Be - Beatles
Domino - Van the Man, Live at the Rainbow
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - The Band. Levon's vocals just make this cover.
Layla - Clapton Unplugged
While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Clapton, McCartney and the rest of the world at the Concert For George
November Rain - GnR
Bat Out of Hell - Meat Loaf
Highway Song - Blackfoot

What about "What a Fool Believes" by Michael McDonald and the Doobies/Kenny Loggins.

Quintessential yacht rock and a Grammy-winner, too.

Oh yeah - incredible vocal. I prefer the doobies version but there are also a few live performances of McDonald and Loggins singing it together.

Of course, Loggins and McDonald teamed up for an incredible harmony on This Is It.

If we are going yacht rock also give me

Baker Street - Jerry Rafferty

one of the great sax solos of all time for sure - recorded by a session musician who was paid 27 pounds for it, Raphael Ravenscroft later said he has always been annoyed when hearing the song because his sax was out of tune. He was asked to play soprano sax but suggested alto sax upon hearing the song.

I like Loggins' studio version of "What a Fool Believes" but you can't beat McDonald's rhythmic keyboard vamps on the Doobies'. Plus his voice is just so unique.

Kid Charlemagne is better to my ears but I can see Page liking Reeling. That guitar work sounds like him.

The greatest song ever written from both a lyrical standpoint and musical standpoint is Hotel California by the Eagles. It's a song that is perfect in every way and if you know what it's about then you know.
