I will give it 2.5/4 stars. It was an enjoyable movie but could have been so much better. I'm a huge boxing and mma fan, and the games of Oleksandr Usyk and Bas Rutten were really cool, but the movie just moved a little slow. It seemed more like a slice of life movie, than the sports epic that it looked like from the previews.

The Rock and Blunt did a great job acting, but no one else really stood out. There's a lot less fighting action than you would think, it almost seems like an after thought against the backdrop of Mark Kerr's life.

If it was just a regular movie I wouldn't be disappointed but since I'm a diehard combat sports fan, was a little let down

I've not seen the film yet but if you watch/listen to his Rogan interview, its pretty clear that its not supposed to be a sport combat/MMA movie. Its a movie, that involves sport combat/MMA.

It's a life story, not a sports movie.

I could have handled that, "The Wrestler" was amazing with Mickey Rourke. This was just kinda boring

Got to see this movie last night.

Emily Blunt is Academy Award level. She makes you believe the crazy.

This is not an, All action all the time movie. It does have a fair amount of fighting/sports in it, but this is not that kind of film

The "human" side of this film is far tougher mentally than the actual violence.

How does someone get THAT big THAT fast? Assuming The Rock went on a heavy testosterone and high calorie diet? Or is a large part of it CGI? I have always wondered how unhealthy it can be to add or drop the crazy amounts of weight these actors sometimes do for variuos roles.

He said in an interview that he did gain 35lbs of muscle. That is difficult to do without "help" but he/movie producers can afford the kind of "help" that typical bros at golds gym cant.

Also, definitely had to be some CGI involved since his arms/shoulders have some pretty dark tattoos on them & he had to be tatted up to look like Mark Kerr. Make up can only go so far with that.

Are we really opining on The Rock using "enhanced" substances?
Nobody cares. Work Harder

No, I think everyone pretty much knows which direction the wind is blowing there, but he's not as physically large as he once was, so to get that back he had to go on a program.

At his age, those types of gains are jaw dropping (35lbs of muscle), I don't care what type of "gear" he has access to. Especially considering how lean he has been lately.

At the same time, I do worry about the potential harm to the bodily organs etc. I assume he is closely monitored by physicians during the entire process.

Has there ever been a worse result of steroid use than this?

TRT is going to be the norm for many men over 45-50 in the future, I am convinced. I know quite a few guys in their low to mid 40's getting on it. But these guys have got to be on more imo...maybe HGH as well? Or possibly just higher test than normal doctors would prescribe.

Also most likely on a crazy high-protein calorie diet most people can't afford, or wouldn't have the stomach for.

What do you mean? Dude looks pretty good.

As for the Rock, I'm more baffled at how different his face looks.

Got the classic "roid gut", but most dudes I know would kill to be able to push a button and be built like that.
