Looks like TPUSA and others are creating an alternative halftime show to Bad Bunny. Has this ever been done before? What kind of success do you think it will have?

Bad Bunny is performing because he is popular right now as evidenced by album sales, streams, past concert attendance, etc. I'm not a listener, but I know many who are.
The "alternative" lineup listed below doesn't really do anything for me either, but as always, to each their own.

That is a fake lineup, no? From what I saw on Instagram, this is being led by Cory Asbury, Forest Frank and Brandon Lake. Not really in line with that poster.
Thanks for all the responses about if this had been done before. Informative.

Dumb response. Trying to have a civil conversation and you resort to mocking. All of those guys have multiple songs with over 100 million listens on Spotify. Its not mainstream but they are not insignificant.

As a 50-something year-old guy I consider myself pretty aware of prominent pop culture figures. I've definitely heard of Bad Bunny and knew he was a big deal. These guys, I don't recall ever hearing their names.

They are all Christian artists so that makes sense if you don't go to a Protestant church on Sundays. But 2 of them have had top 100 songs across all genres, including Brandon Lake doing a song with Jelly Roll. He has been on American Idol, The Late Show with Kimmel and has won 5 Grammys. They are no where near the popularity of Bad Bunny, but to just dismiss them because you are "pretty aware of prominent pop culture figures," seems kinda arrogant.

To be blunt, the biggest challenge of an alternate halftime show is thinking people are going to change the channel. Between the game and the ads and the halftime, most people are on the couch stuffing their face, at a big party, or in a bar watching the game from 5 pm until 11 or whenever it's over.
You'd have to be extremely motivated to not watch it, and I still don't really understand what the big deal is. Because he raps in Spanish? I couldn't understand what the hell Kendrick Lamar was saying last year, but I still watched it.
Wikipedia has a fairly definitive list of all the counter-halftime shows over the years.
