I'm not a big musical fan overall but went with my wife last night. I loved the book and movie as a kid. If you get a chance, this show is phenomenal. The stage setup is awesome and the songs are outstanding.

I've wanted to see it and love the book and movie but wondered if I'd like the musical. Thanks for posting this.

Going to the show on Broadway Dec 27th!

Can't wait!!

For most of my life, I would describe it as my favorite book of all time.

Just a little aside about S.E. Hinton.

My wife is a middle school librarian. At a convention a few years ago there was a display of Hinton's novels but she was not there (apparently she really is uncomfortable with public appearances). My wife has been a fan since she was a kid and emailed the address on a card she picked up at the display. A couple of months later Hinton responded. This lead to a multi-year email discussion about her books and young adult literature in general. Shop talk if you will. Last year my wife met her for lunch in San Antonio and they still correspond and have developed a bit of a friendship even with the significant age difference.

Pretty cool gal. I know, cool story bro.

I follow her on Twitter. She can be very sweet and very vicious to her fans.

I asked her once if she was thinking of Cool Hand Luke because of the Paul Newman line and hiding out in an old church. While the movie came out before the book was published, she had already written it and hadn't realized the coincedence.

A client of mines husband is related to the man who wrote the music for this play. This was his big break.

My clients husband has a producing credit for this for donating money to get it going. Angelina Jolie helped with getting it on broadway and my client got to meet her at it's debut and they were invited to the Tony Awards where this sucker crushed it and won a bunch.

It's an awesome awesome awesome production and I encourage everyone to see it.

I know another cool story bro but it was cool hearing about this before it got big.

Hell, i booked a trip to NYC to see it before realizing they're doing a tour.

I have to believe the Broadway performers are the best and since I'm paying a ton for it, I'm going to keep beleiving that

my mom went to NYC to see it and from what it sounds like (without giving away spoilers) some of the practical effects could be hard to replicate in other locations…

Unless there was more, I think they did the biggest one in Houston even though I'm not entirely sure how they pulled it off.

Has anybody been to the Outsiders Museum in Tulsa owned by Danny Boy O'Connor of House of Pain fame?

He has stated that Hinton has helped him quite a bit with it over the years. I love Tulsa but haven't been there in quite some time to check it out. He was stoked about the musical as well.

Saw it last night in Atlanta. Really enjoyed it. The rumble in the rain and the church fire were simply incredible.

Definitely one to go see.

It was reasonably good. I didnt think Cherry was very strong, and overall a little too much "I love you bro". Dallas was phenonmenal.

If you saw the show touring Texas he was the best of the lot

Such a great musical. Ran up to Dallas one day and saw the one man show Churchill and this musical later than night. Great day for entertainment

We saw it in Houston and I thought the choreography and sound/lighting design were outstanding, but the book and music were weak and completely forgettable. The rumble choreo was amazing, and the actor playing Dallas was a star. The actress playing Cherry had a great voice but her acting was borderline Waiting for Guffman bad. I've never seen such a poor casting in a first national tour.

Well I'm glad I'm going on Broadway.
