I'm watching Christmas Vacation and just looked it up and it was only seven year later that Randy Quaid was in Independence Day. For me 1989 and 1996 feel like 20 years apart as I was seven and fourteen respectively. What other movies have that kind of feel for you guys?

Time crawls when you are young, and flies when you are old. It applies to everything. I don't have a specific movie reference, but it seemed like an eternity between 1984 and 5150.....and it was only 2 years!

It blows my mind that Lord of the Rings was more than 20 years ago now.
It has been less time (in Sean Astin years) between Goonies and LOTR, than from LOTR to now.

Came here thinking this was going to be a time dilation relativity thing... then reread thread title and felt dumb.

Well, and kinda drunk.

Jurassic Park 1 and 3 might as well be 20 years apart for me.

Back to the Future 1 to 2 felt like an eternity for being only 4 years. Granted that gap was like 60% of my movie going life at the time. Terminator 1 to 2 may as well have been a generational gap from my perspective.

And then today, the 2-3 year wait between some of these TV seasons is like nothing.

Well, it kind of is. MSFC Aggie is claiming a 3,166 year time gap is only 2 years.

Weird ones for me are movies like Apollo 13 that are now closer in time to their actual events than modern day.

Along the lines of your Randy Quaid observation, it is insane looking at Tom Hanks' run as a leading man from 1993-2002.

I think this broke my brain.
