Mistborn is going to be a feature length film. The Stormlight Archive is going to be a series.

This is perfect, imo.

I liked Stormlight so much more than Mistborn...but even though that's just my preference, I think Stormlight has a lot more to explore in a lengthy series. Between the development of the various characters in the different kingdoms, his transformation, the continual battles, etc etc. Seems like this one could extend for a long long time if done right.

I have had The Way of Kings paperback sitting on my shelf for years. Picked it up before I realized it was another incomplete saga, maybe when there were only 3 books out instead of 5. It seems those 5 may tell a complete enough story to get cracking on them? I'm sure someone will have more info.

First two are utterly spectacular.

Words of Radiance is the highest rated book on Goodreads for a reason

But with the caution that WOTK starts slow. He's doing massive world building and that takes time. I slogged through the first half for a while...but once it gets going it really goes. the Sanderlanche is a real thing and almost always some of the best writing around when it starts.

Yep. Especially with Shallan. I was so bored with her story...and just wanted to skip it, to get back to Kaladin's story. But it all comes full circle, and is so good in the end.

I'm thrilled to see Mistborn on the silverscreen! Easily the most adaptable Sando franchise. I have no idea how well Stormlight will translate to a live action TV series. There's like 30+ POV characters, the spren, shadesmar....like just so much challenging material to adapt. Apple gonna have their hands full with that one!

ALSO hopefully Sanderson isn't putting himself in the Game of Thrones trap...thinking the tv series won't catch up with him!

Sanderson is a beast of a writer in comparison to George.

He also has the benefit of being younger.

It'll definitely slow him down. But that man is a writing machine.

How would everyone depict some of the metals' powers?
Use a music cue like how the force is done sometimes in Star Wars?
Some sort of blue CGI only the audience and character using the power can see?
Iron and steel can be taken straight from the books.
Pewter and Copper are easy to depict.
How would you show the audience someone is burning tin or bronze to enhance senses?
What about emotional allomancy? Something like Scarlett Witches mind powers in Avengers 2?

I think the emotional allomancy can be slowed down, zoomed in shots, where you have breeze talk a little more slowly, almost dream like, zoom in the on the eye of the target, small little twitches of a smile.

Kelsier: These aren't the allomancers you're looking for.
Guard: These aren't the allomancers we're looking for.

They have at least 5 seasons worth of material...and frankly given each book tops over 1,000 pages, it could be stretched.

it will be interesting though. I think Sanderson has a tendency to use more word when less would have worked. I think there will be tension between him and other writers who will want to streamline things more.
