This 9 -1/2 minute ABC promo from 1978 came up on my YouTube feed Highlighting (among others): The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Taxi, Happy Days, Three's Company, Laverne & Shirley, Starsky & Hutch, Welcome Back Kotter, What's Happening, Eight is Enough, and Mork is Mindy.

The last promo is for Battlestar Galactica's debut which ABC refers to as "The most incredible television event ever."

But even that pales in comparison to see your favorite network starts together singing "We're the One" at the end of this thing. Lorne Green, Ricardo Montalban, Isaac from Love Boat and others just rocking out.

I vaguely remember Love Boat as a kid. My wife and I tried watching an episode while we were sick. Man, it is terrible. So bad.

Watching Howard Cosell ogle the Three's Company ladies wearing their bathing suits during Battle of the Network Stars was peak late 70's TV.

That's a stacked lineup. Give me a station running that lineup and I'd be tuned in every night.

Based on the show names I think Texas banned those types of sites last year.

You forgot The Hulk! What a great Friday night, the hulk followed by dukes of hazard!

True... so true.

Watching this episode was the bomb... no CGI... still holds up.

I remember these things airing on TV and watching in wonder as all of the characters from different shows were seen together in one place. Also watched Battle of the Network Stars whenever it aired.

This commercial aired at the time when every bankable star seemed to have a variety show where they told corny jokes and performed skits and would sing and dance. I can't imagine that being done today watching the leads for The Pitt and some cop drama singing and dancing.

Battle of the Network Stars was greatness.

Black Sheep Squadron was also greatness.

And then there was this:

Just seeing Lorne Greene - Commander Adama - belting out a song - had me dying.

I could watch Battle of the Network Stars on an infinite loop. It's so amazing to see.

Here's Robert Urich wisely picking the right person for the dunk tank.

Even as a kid, I thought Taxi-era Marilu Henner was beautiful. Jan Smithers from WKRP, too…low-key but very pretty.

Erin Gray, Lynda Carter, Lindsay Wagner, Farrah and Jaclyn Smith, Victoria Principal, Catherine Bach, on and on…no shortage of gorgeous ladies for us young pups to look at in the late '70s and early '80s.

Saturday night when I was at my grandparents was Lawrence Welk, Hee Haw, Love Boat and Fantasy Island. Solid Gold after that. The occasional Saturday night college football game on ABC was a nice treat.

Is this the greatest day of Mr Kotter's life? Destroyed Robert Conrad on the track and got kissed by Lynda Carter?

It would have to be in the Top Five.

Great post. So many beautiful women back then.

Exactly the same as I remember, with some Saturday night wrestling with Paul Boesch thrown in.
