The new trailer for Season 5 dropped today. Felt like the show ran out of steam some last season but hope this final season can make up for it.

Love this show. Hope they kill most of the kids from Gen V because that's the way it would go down in real life outside of Marie.
The problem with taking time off between seasons is that Ryan now looks about 25 when he was 14 in Season 4.
Biggest travesty is whatever the hell weird plastic surgery that Annie January had done to transform her from gorgeous to some sort of silicon-based alien.

Hope they close it better than GoT and Stranger Things. ST was better than GoT, but still a relatively low bar to clear.
For anyone who read the comics (I didn't), are the comics as politically focused as the show? Earlier seasons felt like they handled political topics in subtle and funny ways but it has gotten more heavy handed in Season 4 and looks like Season 5. It makes sense based on the themes of the show but wasn't sure how the comics handled topics.

It's been almost 20 years since I read the first couple of volumes - I think - but I remember there being a very strong Vaught/American government conspiracy, and the themes repeatedly going to corruption of power and degredation of women - Annie gets a lot better treatment in the show than in the graphic novels. All the white supremacy stuff wtih what's her name is in there, although that character is a man in the GN.
It will definitely end differently that the novels because of choices they've made inside the 7, but Homelander seems pretty clearly to be what the show producers think trump would be if he had super powers.

Still a solid show and will finish it to see the eventual Butcher vs Homelander payoff, but I liked this show a lot more when it was "what would happen if Superman was evil" instead of a political drama.

Antony Starr steals every scene. Everytime he's on, I feel what the characters are feeling in the scene. Anything can happen. I dont think I felt like that about a character in any show or movie.
The fact that he hasn't even been nominated for an Emmy is so absurd to me. I get that a show like this isn't for anyone, but you could show people scenes of just him and it should be undeniable how good he is. He steals the scenes and is absolutely terrifying and broken. He's the best actor on the show and it completely hinges on him. Somehow these performances on streaming fall through the cracks.
I wonder if 90% of the people from F16 either won't watch this or they are rooting for Homelander

It's even better if you watch him do an interview. He couldn't be more 180 degrees from Homelander if he tried.
He and A-Train were a great scene in the new season; him trying to be cool around Soldier Boy was even better.
What worries me the most about this season is the meager off-hand references to the Gen V kids. If Marie Moreau is on par with Homelander, she should be front and center helping out not just "somewhere" doing "something". The crazy brother as well. I don't want some late entry of Marie fighting Homelander toe to toe after being a no-show.
I'm sure the Starlight actress would have raised holy hell, but when she reunites with Hughie after a year, they should have gone back in and dubbed Hughie saying, "I'm sorry, DO I know you?"

And what about Ryan? Feel like he should be a huge part of the end of this show and we're a fourth of the way through the season and barely a mention of him.
At least we shouldn't have to see wiener dude anymore

Ryan feels like the real wild card. He's in the trailer, looking 30 years old. It's hard to imagine him being able to kill Homelander.
Does Soldier Boy now go after Homelander again because he didn't tell him about the virus? Seemed like it almost killed him

couldn't sleep last night and watched episode 3 when it dropped. very entertaining, premium Homelander and Soldier Boy encounters all the way through. Annie makes zero sense on the other hand while Stan Edgar spits some mad truth.
Glad jensen ackles is back.

I don't know. Its still entertaining, but it also feels like now many times the whole "crude and shocking simply to be crude and shocking" schtick is getting stale and overdone. If that makes sense.
Every episode now they throw in unnecessarily over-the-top stuff, and it feels like they're doing it because they think they have to and they're just trying to imitate the first couple of seasons instead of having a reason for it that serves the story. Many times this season my wife and I are sighing and saying, "yeah, yeah, ok, hurry up and kill that person with your ***** in the grossest way possible, and let's get on with the story."
For example, I'm no prude (obviously or I wouldn't watch a second of this show) but Kimiko's raunchy comments because she watches too much porn were just stupid and pointless and don't even make sense. Hell, on that subject, having Kimiko talk now was a horrible decision by the writers. She's extremely uninteresting now, and her and Frenchie's relationship this season is just boring.

They just threw the whole watching porn stuff out there. They didn't show her on the ipad or whatever. Just said it and it was so. Poorly done and not necessary.
Good season so far. Setting up well for a good finish.
