It's like a really mid (as the kids say) country song that was #1 on the music charts for 23 weeks.

Guy picks a hot Texas woman over some low-rent alternative. Greatest story of all time.

What makes a country song "mid" or "great"? That's a moving goalpost.
Most people don't consider anything "new" to be great. That happens with time. Even when the "great" country songs of the 70's, 80's, and 90's first came out, they weren't instantly iconic - but many were instantly catchy.
What I like about this one is the authenticity. It doesn't have to be the deepest song in the world, but it doesn't sound like a pop/hip-hop beat with fake twang talking so it certainly stands out among the mass produced stuff of today. Ella Langley also has a very authentic voice with a more grounded sound.
It was nice to see the detail they put into the music video to make it feel very authentically 'Texas' with the dance hall, Aggie Wranglers, and Texas-born artists that made cameo appearances. They didn't "Austin" it up with designer cowboy stuff or make it look like a trendy Nashville bar. Choosing Luke Grimes and featuring real riders instead of a bunch of smooth looking models also makes it go a long way. A+ effort IMO.

I agree with the OP that the song is a bit on the mid side. Its success is more an indicator of the current state of country music than the song's quality.
